The Barnsley fan, who attended The Reds� 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town, is said to have woken up around 10:30pm. As he left the toilet and walked into the dark concourse, the alarms were set off which alerted emergency services. He made his way pitch side before climbing onto the structure.

A Barnsley Fire Station spokesperson said: �We got the call through to attend Oakwell and usually its just a false alarm. But we turned up and saw this young lad on top of the portakabin trying to get our attention. We had to get the ladder to get him down. He had no shoes on and had lost his mobile phone and his hat. He was more bothered about his hat though, he seemed a smartly dressed lad.�

The man apparently told emergency services that he had a �few beers� and went to the toilet and the next thing he could remember was waking up nearly seven hours later.

The spokesperson added: �I know Barnsley lost again but it can�t be that bad. It�s slightly embarrassing for the lad but it�s a lesson for him I�m sure, he�ll not be quick to forget it.�
