I was going to recommend Sniper/Gunslinger but he says he doesn't want to play a glass cannon, so Merc/Commando for good damage, simple rotation, and lots of damage mitigation.

Depends on your definition of glass cannon. With your companion set on heal, you can take a lot of damage.

With the new companion system, it's really hard to die. Just set your comp on tank or heal and fire away. If you play a Merc in a warzone you're going to get focused like hell, even moreso if you're doing the small 4v4 arenas. Snipers aren't focused quite as heavily, so that's soemthing to keep in mind.

Is it still possible after the patch to do that thing where you can use your free insta 60 character create, strip them of the legacy gear and mail it off and then delete them and do it again without actually losing the token?

You can delete a 60 as long as it's not 61 and get your token back. If you're gonna do that, might as well fly to Odessen and grab the Legacy goods from both droids before you delete.

just resubbed for the xpac, got purged from the imperial guild. I will be begging for a return whenever I get home tonight pleeeeease. also, I used a referral code probably from whoever Nancy is. Trying to decide if I keep leveling my Huggernaut or use the free 60 to do a different thing. I have already made a huge mistake by selling most of the companion gear I got mailed to me, because I misunderstood a few things about that whole process.

The nice thing about this game is that every class gets enough perks so that it all kind of evens out and nothing really feels like a "glass cannon", at least not noticeably in PVE (PVP is for masochists anyway). Agents get shield probe, which has a very short cooldown relative to its uptime, and sorcs get static barrier, which has potentially 100% uptime unless you're being focused. Just play what looks cool and don't worry about your armor rating IMO, but if you are worried, then yeah merc is a solid choice. And fun to play and cool-looking.

So, the incredibly annoying mouse twitching bug is still in the game. It basically makes you turn into a random direction occasionally when using the mouse to turn. I also googled but it seems it has not been fixed nor is there a user generated fix either. This bug has been in since release, Jesus Christ.  Any ways to mitigate this issue? Apparently they have been down since yesterday. The thread detailing this is in their general forums and is very unhelpful. I resubbed with a bunch of friends and they play on Harbinger but my dudes are on JC. If I make a char there and play I'll eventually have to create a new Legacy. When I transfer a guy off JC to harbinger, which Legacy is going to be the one that's kept. Kinda scared to roll a new char for fear of losing stuff.

Legacy unlocks merge on a server transfer. If you've created a new legacy, the new legacy name sticks but it becomes the higher of the two legacy levels. If you hadn't created a new legacy, IIRC you'll be prompted to make a legacy name when you log in on the new server.

As I always say on these though, playing a class you enjoy is infinitely more important than going after the most optimal spec, unless you're in a serious progression group and there's a tiny few in this thread that applies to.

I wish I'd twigged earlier what the Devoted Allies gear becoming wearable by players would mean--I've only got the one set and it's a bit of a pain shunting it around alts as I level them from 55. Feels a bit insane that gear you can start wearing at 55 isn't trumped by anything in the levelling content for ten levels after.

Shadows of Revan is a weird expansion with the increased experience they give out. I was level 59 after doing the solo flashpoints, and level 60 very shortly after landing on Rishi. Also, I now look like a sea captain.

Just did HM Red Reaper for the first time. As I expected, the trash pulls were insanely difficult. Bosses were easy up until the final boss...he has some new mechanic where adds come out and root you. Not sure exactly what the strategy is to kill him, we ended up doing it but took way longer than it should have.

I was 59 by the time I finished it when it came out, so holy poo poo, they really did streamline the levelling process.

And the final boss isn't hard so much as annoying as gently caress especially if you don't have classes that can interrupt at range.
