So what exactly is so bad about the PvP in this game? I've seen a lot of negative sentiment in this thread, but I've been chaining warzones since I finished SoR because I wanted a break before KotFE and I'm having a blast. The lack of clickable name plates makes things a little frustrating, but as a Juggernaut I usually just hit whatever is in my face so tab targeting has been sufficient.

Have you read about the Yuuzhan Vong? This storyline on the Eternal Empire is hardly outside the realm of Star Wars pseudo-reality.

I kind of like how KotFE showed us a completely new culture that still fits within the Star Wars setting, instead of just the Sith Empire and Republic that mysteriously resemble the OT-era Galactic Empire and the Prequels-era Republic from thousands of years later. I mean, I don't begrudge the fact that they made that choice to start off with, since it is probably better that there's just a bunch of iconic Star Wars-y stuff everywhere 1-50, but it's cool for this new storyline to really do something with the fact that this is thousands of years before the movies, with different civilizations, different technologies, different ways of seeing the Force.

I do wish we'd seen a bit more of the impact all of this had on the rest of the galaxy, but since Chapter IX ended with the formation of the Alliance I'm sure we'll see more of that in coming chapters.

I actually thought as I was playing through on my Inquis that it would be a great generic sci-fi story if it didn't have jedi/sith. I think the kotfe story would play a lot better as a non force user, but that's not why I play star wars.

Bioware said when making KotFE that the changes in Star Wars canon were a large part of what gave them the freedom to make KotFE with more original ideas. One interview said one of the changes that made for KotFE was keeping things in entirely new locations rather than having most of the expansion take place on already existing Star Wars worlds - Bothawui was named as one of the worlds KotFE was originally planned to go to.

I assume that's also why, for one big thing, we're seeing a new Force tradition that's not Jedi or Sith and seems to operate by a different set of rules.

For most of the non-solo flashpoints all you need to do to get it off your quest markers is have a chat with Satele/Malgus on the Fleet after picking it up initially, they'll give you instructions and auto-assign you the [TACTICAL] flashpoint, then you can abandon the [TACTICAL] quest from your log and you'll never see the breadcrumb triangle again.

Yeah, that's one of the big changes that came with 4.0. Just do as above, abandon the [TACTICAL] flashpoint then use the NPC in front of the appropriate flashpoint to ask for the Solo flashpoint.

Is it a bug that I keep getting the same schematics repeatedly? Over the last few days of playing, I have literally received that scrabbler jerky schematic over 20 times, with no other schematic drops. I am even getting the drat thing in chest rolls.

On a similar note, the only schematic I am getting from tier 8 slicing missions is the vectron slicer, of which I have received 6.

I aso noticed that I haven't seen a decoration drop since pre 4.0, and I have gained over 30 levels since then. Is this standard in this game, some type of bug with the loot table rng, or am I just unlucky?

Actually, it owns, because while I think highly of the base SWTOR story they definitely went maybe a bit too heavy on being "iconic" with references to the star wars movies in a way KOTOR didn't even really do.

I'm glad they're doing something new.

It has always bugged me that every Star Wars game has to have a Hoth level, or a Tatooine level, or an Endor level crammed in there. Despite the fact that all those planets are supposed to be the galactic equivalent of Bumfuck, Nowhere. (I give a pass to games like the Battlefront series where people are re-playing the Battle of Hoth, since Hoth is like the 2fort of Star Wars games.)

The Empire is supposed to be this huge loving empire, encompassing hundreds, if not thousands, of planets. And that's a really cool premise for someone to make up some crazy awesome planets. Yet in almost every game it's the same handful of planets from the movies. So we have to slog through boring ice planet and boring desert planet.

Planets like Hoth and Endor that we saw in the movies were supposed to be super secret military bases, the space equivalent of places like Area 51, Los Alamos, or wherever you set up your meth and moonshine brewing shack. They shouldn't be big quest hubs where all sorts of important things happened in the past.

So, I hit level 20 during the first Flashpoint (solo) and I haven't even taken the shuttle to Coruscant yet. Is this unusual? I mean, apparently, Capital Planet is 10-16 and I'm already 4 levels ahead of that.

Ability bloat was always terrible and one of the things that I hated most at release. Also XP got tweaked after the 12x class xp finished so you only need to do class and core planet missions to level, but throw in a flashpoint and whatnot and you'll jump right up.

It is seriously the worst part of the game mechanics and you could probably cut half of most classes' skill lists and not notice the difference. Even the actual rotations you use are a lot tighter these days there's a lot of skills that could have their effects rolled into other skills or otherwise be trimmed further.

Doesn't matter anymore. If you're too high or low for a planet you get scaled.

And why is it so hard to get any kind of gear upgrades? If you're a class that uses guns, you can get 208 barrels by buying Agent/Smuggler offhand items for common crystals and ripping the mods out of those.

Well, the main story is pretty much entirely a linear corridors-and-conversations experience, so I don't think there's anything you could get locked out of. After that it's all recruitment missions, and most are going to be companions from other classes, so nothing you'll have done will ever come up.

Question of my own though, I have a level 55 Agent I'm considering taking through SoR and KotFE, but I'm curious to know, in either expansion does the fact that I'm a double agent get even so much as alluded to, even once? I mean, I'd expect Theron to know since he's SIS, and you meet another double agent on Ziost so I wondered if it comes up.

I like that they're giving us different things to do to recruit companions. You definitely don't NEED all of them, so there's no reason you have to PvP unless you are a Pokemon master who has to get them all. I hope they have different quests for future companions too, maybe I'll even play GSF to get someone. :)

As far as ability bloat goes, I really don't agree with that. Yes, the game gives you a bunch of moves. Some are used in some specs but not others. This isn't a Wii game, it's a PC game designed to be used with a keyboard and mouse and is best played with a MMO mouse. Depending on your spec you're going to use 5 to 6 moves in you're regular rotation, with some cool downs here and there. If you don't want to complicate things, you don't have to use the majority of your moves, especially if you're playing the game as a single player RPG. It's honestly pretty simplistic already.

Hell, my Powertech has empty slots on his second toolbar in tank spec because he doesn't have ENOUGH options (RIP Unload).

Yeah, I'm definitively not going to get all companions on all of my alts. The PVP one though, I figure I'll do it once conquest is back to a bonus to PVP matches and kill two birds with one stone.
