I switched to minions when I got tired of having to do things like think about which abilities to use and dodge, and the important parts are Blood Magic for the Vampiric minor trait, Death Magic for the obvious minion buffs (especially Death Nova), and Reaper for "Rise!".

I'm 10 HP away from rise, and I'm super looking forward to it. I think the trait that raises a jagged horror when you kill an enemy is helpful as hell though.

It's loving amazing. The traps are all really good, longbow is the best, and the new F2 and F3 skills are awesome.

Dragonhunter basically sold me on Guardian, a class I wasn't fond of.

I've been playing it in PvP and the only trap I use is the cripple one. Most people have no idea how to fight it and the burst can kill anything but Warriors and Necromancers in a few seconds.

I have this vague and unrealistic hope that the new HoT legendaries will involve something other than "do you have 2000 gold y/n?" I started hoping that when they said that the new legendaries wouldn't require the Gift of Fortune. Even after seeing how stupid precursor crafting is, I still thought, well, maybe they want to keep the original group of legendaries as a show of wealth or something.

But now there's Nightfury, and now I'm thinking the new legendaries will basically just be twice the price of the original group and I might as well just give up on ever getting one now.

Seriously. I have never seen as many numbers pop up on my screen as when I drop GS 4, Procession of Blades, then GS2 into a cluster of mobs in the HoT events. Hopefully the increased cooldown is the extent of the changes to it. I don't want whiny esports folks ruining my fun.

My new build. I went with magi for the HP over the toughness from clerics. My weapon runes are not on the builder, but I use the perma + healing.

I stay in Centaur stance most of the time to keep the tablet out and keep the boon duration aura up to get the toughness stack.

Its great team support,

Is it normal to die a bunch in some HoT story missions? Cookie-cutter GS build warrior here.

I was on "the jungle provides", and those mordrem snipers tear me up. So I thought "okay, that's cool, I need to prioritize". One of them can still flatten me in few seconds, so i have to make sure I get to him fast, and hope that he doesn't stand in a Death Field 5000 the other guys put out.

But then one of the battles has like..5 of those guys. Who all beeline for me. I had to kill what I could, die, run back, etc, until they were cleared out. A similar situation in a story mission a little later, where a certain return character says "It's too many" and you say "Nah we got it", at which point I get gang banged by 20 guys, and corpse run it a few times until they're thinned out some.

I fully admit to sucking at my class - are others having similar experiences? Or do I need to take the cookie-cutter build a little more seriously and start swapping weapons and all that (yes, I'm lazy, but I saw that swapping to sword offhand has a defensive skill on it)? Do I need to ditch the all 'zerk gear (not that I can really afford new exotics)? Or are people just muscling through this stuff? World events seem fine, as every bad guy doesn't beeline for me, since they have multiple targets to go for. Then I can manage my own aggro better.

How many times must I remind you to WASH YOUR HANDS?

So the (I assume) last HoT mission was a tad buggy for me.

I got to Mordremoth, Blighted Rytlock shows up, things are going fine until I fall?/phase retreat? (can't really remember) into a little hole on the edge of the map. Too tall to climb up, invisible wall on the side so I can't just suicide off the edge. Mordremoth can stand on my head and hit me with conditions, but not enough damage to kill me and I can hit him but do no damage since presumably you have to activate a rift to continue the fight. Welp!

http://imgur.com/hPtew4u

Bug report sent, /stuck sends me over the edge to my death, but I'm not that far in so no big deal. I'll just avoid the edges next time! Then I get to the same point in the fight and...

http://imgur.com/yG9LKVa

There's a hole between me and the rift now. No, not an invisible floor. A hole that I can only jump into and die. This happened twice.

I'll just work on my rev some more because I just can't right now. :v:

Axe is always my go-to weapon for open world stuff on warrior because it's far more mobile, especially with the ability to keep a warhorn in your offhand. Rather than need to stand still to unload 100 Blades, you can just run circles around the mobs.

I'd definitely swap away from the dungeon-centric builds you'll find on metabattle or otherwise, but I wouldn't bother with getting new gear. Picking up Adrenal Health, Inspiring Banners, Quick Breathing, and some life steal food like Blackberry Pie will go a long way toward helping you survive.

Also realize that some mobs like snipers and smokescales don't have much HP, so you can definitely just plink at them with LB or Rifle if that's a less risky strategy.

PvE builds are basically all set up to be all damage all the time and expect you to survive off the select few defensive skills and dodges you've got. This, coupled with harder HoT mobs will probably end up killing you a bunch, particularly if you're not taking full advantage of your weapon sets (not that I really know what warrior does). Either get gud, get some soldiers gear or something, or switch to a different weapon (maybe look for something ranged). Also, through most of HoT you've got some poor NPC idiot to take some hits, so hide behind rytlock and kasmeer whenever possible.
