Reddit darlings itchynipples and cawkstrangla are ramming people in unshielded Eagles around the CG spaceport. They explode and, if the people are speeding (which just about everyone is once they leave the area of the slot) are destroyed by the station. People are falling over themselves to suck their cocks crowing "we knew this would happen when the speed limit was put in place!" (while conveniently forgetting that it was put in place because of the antics of these two). Many of these people are also the ones who loudly complain about the existence of solo and private group play and wonder why no one participates in CG's in open.

Well you can't stop the stupid and the obnoxious, but at least they could then expand the anti-loitering area to a large volume of space inside the entrance and outside the exit.

Pretty much every parking garage anywhere ever.

All said, I don't dislike the current setup, there's something charming about the brief terror wondering how much of an rear end in a top hat the ship ahead or behind you is at a congested dock. I'm also optimistic that when Thargoids show up we'll have some explosive musical chairs action around the port where everyone unprepared to fight seeks asylum in the station and rushes for it.

Interdictions are still trivially easy to escape from, especially if you fly in solo mode. It helps the DF because they get a boost for buying data.

Trying to get hopeful for the Federal Gunship, and earlier in the thread someone mentioned how it looks like it'll have the ability to carry a small fighter. As cool as that sounds, based on what we know right now, what would be the point of that? Based on the description of the Anaconda's carrier ability, you could fit anything up the size of a Sidewinder or Eagle there, but the only benefit to the player using them that I can think of is not needing to fit a fuel scoop for longer trips. Has FDev said anything about having AI control for docked fighters?

I put armor on my iClip because if I lose shields I don't have the patience to fly around in circles for 5 minutes while they reform

They really should get a bonus to coming back up when not being actively hit or something because having to wait between fights is not great design.

Maybe a "full drain" mode where it completely depletes your eng and weapon caps for a few dozen seconds to overdrive and quickly recharge shields but you're completely helpless while it happens?

You should just be able to do some kind of controlled reboot that makes you not be able to move or do anything for like x time and then come back with everything on minimum charge but online.

How about scaling shield regeneration time to the number of seconds since you last took damage with the maximum rate determined by your shield class. Just got shot? Minimal recharge. Manage to go unharmed for a solid minute? Your Anaconda shields can be restored in a couple more peaceful minutes instead of a half hour.

Then they can get cracking on reworking SCBs.

That's pretty similar to what I was thinking, though my idea leans more on the power distributor.

Have shields regen faster (and drain more power while doing so) the longer you're sitting around not getting shot at. Make it only start gradually ramping up after a minute or something to keep it from being too silly (say, 60 seconds before it starts ramping up, 30 seconds after that to reach full drain), and the instant you get take any more damage you're back to 1MJ/sec. That way you can maintain the balance that lets you can kill an Anaconda with a Sidewider and ~*persistence*~ or whatever, and but if you are that Anaconda, successfully disengaging from a fight would no longer mean waiting for the next ice age for your shields to regen. It would still take a while and be dependent on your distributor as well as shield rating, but we're talking about going from ~13 minutes to shields coming back at 50% on a full shield tank Anaconda to 7-8 minutes under ideal conditions (stopped getting shot at as soon as the shields went down and didn't get shot at while they were coming back up) for them to come back to full.

But there's no reason some combination of both couldn't work.

Vulture is actually pretty quick when A-fitted, but that's not financially practical given his current assets.

This is how the game used to work prior to 1.3. Your shields instantly recharged in supercruise. It was really handy in an anaconda with shields that take a year to turn back on. They need to have some faster way of shields recharging while not in combat. I stopped flying an anaconda for anything other than trading because its shields going meant you had to fart around waiting until you could fight again for ages, like you're playing everquest and getting your mana back.

Gonna piggyback on this and mention that if you turn off your shield boosters, your shield comes back up much much faster. You can then turn them back on and recharge using shield cells.

Assuming total hyperspace distance is measured in LY traveled it would support that theory given that 24k LY is about the distance of a one way trip to Sag A.
