So, because I am a wee bit of a nerd, I looked at the numbers in Dulfys guide to influence and ran some interesting numbers.

Assuming that you are only giving a companion that they LOVE, and you are using the legacy perk that gives you 30% more affection for companion gifts, and you're only using gifts purchased from vendors with either credits or common crystals -

To go from influence 1 to influence 40 using ONLY Rank 1 greens - it would take 6,080 gifts at 200 credits each for a total of 1,216,006 credits.

To go from influence 1 to influence 40 using only Rank 2 greens - it would take 3,151 gifts at 600 credits each for a total of 1,890,415 credits.

So, a lot more clicking for Rank 1 but significantly cheaper.

Now, to go to Influence 50 from Influence 40 we switch to Rank 5 and 6 gifts. There are 3 options here that can be purchased with common crystals -

Using Rank 5 blue gifts, you would need 584 gifts at 5 common crystals each so a total of 2,920 common crystals.

Using Rank 5 pink gifts, you would need 171 gifts at 10 common crystals each for a total of 1,710 common crystals.

Using the Legendary Rank 6 gifts available from Odessan, you would need 88 gifts for a total of 2,640 common crystals.

So, TL;DR - it seems that just using Rank 1 gifts to go to 40 is the cheapest method, though it will require more clicking. Going to 50 it seems pink grade 5 are the most cost efficient.

This is obviously assuming you're starting from zero, and not doing anything else to build companion influence.

Can you put companion gifts on your ability bars and bind a key to it? If so, that makes it a lot easier.

How was that autohotkey script you used in your job again? Where you need a dippy bird to vent gas every few seconds.

You can bind gifts to a toolbar and it shows the total quantity. So while you'll have 62 stacks, it would 6,138 available.

If you haven't finished Ziost (if you have, you'll know it) the golds in the military area are rather lucrative and spawn pretty quickly. It's a mind-numbing grind, though. In the second part with the droids you need to kill for a power station passcode or something, they pop VERY quickly, have a lot of folks killing them, and are great for scavenging mats. Farium was 200K per stack on my server yesterday, though I'm sure that varies wildly.

Right now if you have 500 Diplomacy you have a freaking ATM. Between companion gifts and the blue grade 8 medical supplies that sell for 2k each thanks to a particular recruitment mission money comes support quick.

Eternity Vault is still my favorite raid in TOR for atmosphere and story. It's a great raid from the very beginning as it starts with your transport ship getting shot down and you crash to the surface in escape pods.

The real question is while leveling what's a useful rank to have Treek at so you are an unstoppable beast that can crush everything, never die, and never have to spend time regenerating health?

IMO there's no real reason to jack a companion up past 20 or so at 65, at least I haven't found anything that's been challenging enough that I've even died so I dunno, i'm not wasting any more of my gifts on anyone post 65.

I've not got some huge problem with the double-bladed sabers but the singles are far more common and iconic. Hopefully they'll change that soon.

Treek is no longer the OP companion she was. Can't hybrid tank and heal, have to select one or the other.

Main reason to raise influence is crafting. If I ever learn a raid schematic I'm drat sure never crafting without a influence 50 companion.

On a side note, I've decided to buy an Akk dog for up to 10 million. They've dipped to 8 before, 11 right now. If anyone had one they want to sell let me know.

Hey so I started playing this game with the new expansion after 6 months off, and the performance has tanked hard. Like, I used to be able to run everything maxed and now I'm getting ridiculous lag in game. It's not my connection, latency is fine. It feels like a performance issue. Is there some kind of bug or something that has appeared in the last few months that is tanking performance?

Quoting this so I can find the post again later. I ground out every single Imperial heroic that wasn't bugged last week, and so not worth the effort. Especially for multiple alts.
