Yeah, they can no longer afford the massive incentives they offered to get TV production to relocate so a lot of that is moving back to California (also California's production tax credit helps).

I do wonder what Jindal plans to do when Piyushmentum fails to carry him into the White House. He's obviously extremely ambitious, if not exactly competent, and isn't afraid to pander hard to what he thinks will win him votes. He had the position of Secretary of Health when he was my age. Do governors commonly get on the wingnut welfare wagon? Palin managed it for quite a while, but she had a much more popular presidential run.

Yes, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't run. The thought was if Vitter wins the governor's race, Jindal might shoot for Vitter's Senate seat.

Of course, that assumes he isn't president.

Jindal has spent his entire campaign in Iowa doing in-person appearances. I'm not sure he's left the state except to attend the debates.

Well sure, but he's also incredibly empty. His statements literally don't make sense in the same breath much less across the extent of a 2 hour one on one debate. His support among certain conservatives won't fade, but the establishment knows he cannot be their nominee.

Yeah. It's really depressing that my parents (or maybe just my mom?) are super pumped about him. Good thing I hear he isn't spending any money on actually trying to win.

Speaking of debates, is there a link to when the next debates (both Democratic and Republican) are? I'd like to be able to just toss everything on my calendar and reference that ahead of time instead of stumbling on the RSF threads at the last minute.

Greg Sargent reported:

The Spanish-language network Telemundo is in talks with the Democratic National Committee about possibly scheduling a new candidate forum with the Dem presidential candidates, after the Republican National Committee canceled its debate on NBC News and the NBC-owned Telemundo to protest CNBC’s handling of last week’s gathering, sources familiar with ongoing discussions tell me.

If this comes to fruition, Democrats would effectively be moving into the breach created by the RNC’s decision. It would mean Democrats end up holding two debate-style events on Spanish-language networks, since they are already set to hold a Univision debate in March.
