Well I guess losing another state, that I never planned to visit, to the Republicans to be turned into another wasteland isn't too much of a loss?

Zoran posted:"I'm a Republican, so I'm going to vote for the Republican." — all that most people actually thought when they voted today Kentucky has a 15% Democratic edge in voter registration, and Democrats control a majority of county governments. 7 of the last 8 governors have been Democrats. This is a genuinely surprising result, given that the state Democratic party enjoys every possible institutional advantage except for rural white folk's blind racial hatred of the President.

With 88% of the vote in, the vote total is 862,024, so we can expect about 979,573 votes tonight. Kentucky has 3,201,852 registered voters, so we're looking at about 30.6% turnout.

I meant that post to be about off-year elections in general, but yes, in Kentucky's case it's actually a little weird. But hey, we get to find out whether the state party is dead today!

Republican candidate Mike Harmon opening up a 3% lead for auditor, with 90% of precincts in. Looks like that office is gone. Andy Beshear (the governor's son) up 0.8% for AG. Grimes up 3% for SecState.

Hey, back from Wing Chun! I wonder who won the elec— *reads Courier Journal website* Sadly I'm utterly unsurprised after seeing the turnout today. Conway's campaign was shamefully non-existent. There was no ground game. There weren't even reminders until about three days out. Never run again, Conway, for anything. You're terrible at your job and you should feel terrible.

Edit: ^^^^ The whole 'State control' is a bit of a distraction though since a lot of the R-controlled states are the same states that they control for national elections. Their terrible policies are mostly limited to Corn and Texans. Kentucky's Legislature is as follows: House: 54 D to 46 R Senate: 23 R to 14 D (And one I)
