Turn 10's only response to the voice chat so far is that it's caused by people using the new dashboard in games where others are not. Which seems...unlikely, to put it nicely. So I don't know that they even have figured the issue out yet, let alone begin fixing it.

there's no way that's the problem since none of us had the new dashboard when the game launched

Yea thats really bad news to hear. I was hoping they just hadnt commented on it and were diligently working behind the scenes on an amazing patch. The pre-release version for dumb people who shelled out too much for the game even had a little button you pushed on lobbies that said basically "Chat is broken, use party chat instead". Active denial means no fix is coming

But I sort of look at the industry as being able to get away with more bullshit because they've very recently figured out that there aren't really ever going to be any repricussions. I took an unbiased look into Payday 2 after micro transactions were introduced and sure some people were salty about the dev going back on their word (no micro) to make a buck, it's no sweat off their back. It's pretty wierd to think that maybe the golden age is over. And that there usually isn't negative effect if you botch an online release or swindle some people on features. Just my two cents. Personally I don't think any of its a big deal. Do your reasearch before you buy or its your fault for getting some lovely game you pre-bought. My best example would be destiny. Would have failed 10 years ago, but now...

I was like 75% serious 25% baiting but yeah, I agree with what you said but I feel that games that are released with issues should get fixed fast as it's the publisher's commitment to give the consumer a complete product. Publishers nowadays get away with murder with how bad the 'finished product' is nowadays. 25gb day 1 patches are almost expected these days and it's sad.

Windows 10 for Xbox is supposed to roll out this month, whatever it is, it likely ties directly into the features/bugs that will be available to them with the new dashboard. Possibly car clubs would be my bet, cause to be honest it would be a lot easier to have all the goons in a car club then having to friend everybody.

The problem that's being discussed is the problem where half the people in a lobby can't hear the other half, and some people can hear others but those people can't hear them. Both problems are hugely annoying, but at least there's a known solution to robot voices. It's a pain to reboot the game, but it works.

Long time listener, first time caller! Eurogoon here! Just added my time to the Time Trial table and managed to get a 01:11.112, which is very good for my driving style, which is very inconsistent and always on the edge (and I drive automatic exclusively ). Maybe i can join some online races with some fellows some times, that would be swell.

Maybe? The last content update included a free car, so it's not that much of a surprise. The patch notes do indicate that now non-performance enhancing mods no longer set dirty lap times, which is cool.

I know the skip barber short shorts video gets posted in these threads every so often, but has anyone else read the book by the same name? It's an easy read and has really good simple explanations that are far better than what's in the game or most of what is parroted online.

I hadn't realized the Nissan was installed with the content update, and it's certainly interesting to drive. Despite being FWD (Turn 10 modeled it without the KERS system powering the rear wheels), it tends to oversteer, launching out of low speed corners is tricky without traction control, and the stock suspension settings result in it bottoming out pretty often. Haven't tested to see if the lap times at LeMans are as abysmal as the real thing, but I do appreciate the irony of including one of the most dominant race cars ever built (the MP4/4) in the same pack as one (or two, if you include the Lola) that has been a pretty spectacular failure so far. azflyboy fucked around with this message at 09:21 on Nov 4, 2015 |

I ended up getting an elite controller and it's a bit of a mixed bag for Forza. I like the fit and finish of the controller and I extended stick is perfect for finer steering adjustment and everything feels really smooth. Using the paddles for shifting isn't as good as I expected. For one, the software can't map 2 buttons to one paddle like I wanted (shift button and clutch button) so I used the lower paddle on each side for shifting and the upper paddle for clutch. It's easy to hit both paddles simultaneously, but the problem I had was downshifting while braking. Using the left paddles at the same time as the left trigger is really awkward. Plus I simply mapped the upper paddle to A which is what I use for clutch, and I kept accidentally hitting the paddles when picking the controller up. You have to be really careful if you set the controller down while paused. The controller itself is nice and heavy and has a headphone port directly on it so you don't need an adapter. It's probably not worth $150 but it is a pretty good controller. I haven't given up on the paddles yet because they felt pretty good in all ocassions except braking.
