Before Gawker I had a diverse group of friends and while we didn't agree on everything we generally got along and respected each other. After Gawker I dumped everyone who doesn't march in exact lockstep with my correct viewpoints on life and even though I'm alone and no one can live up to my standards I take solace in that I'm right, I always have been right and always will be right and ultimately that is what's important.

In actual important media news, perhaps even bigger than Grantland closing, and certainly more surprising than Deadspin editors ghostwring fake quotes for Greg Howard, Whitlock is bringing back The real Real Talk Podcast, not the lame ESPN version. How do you know this is the legitimate Real Talk, the best sports podcast ever, and not Real Talk adjace (the ESPN version), which sucked? His first guest is Big Deuce! You may remember Big Deuce as Whiltock's barber who came on the show and insulted Tebow for an hour straight. "We call dudes like him cock strong, he need him a woman" I still think of that line and laugh. To say I can't wait would be the understatement of the year.

Editors making suggestions is not "ghost writing" e: unless you mean him having a bad source for the grantland thing, which I guess is bad, but doesn't necessarily seem unethical. Adam Schefter gets bad info from a source and reports it like 80 times a week and no one seems too mad.

I'll back him up a little bit on that, Whitlock in podcast/sports radio format is much much better than Whitlock as a journalist. The hot takes are somehow lessened in a notorious hot take format and the entertainment is better.

I did call his "How Grantland Died" article an ESPN press release right after it came out because that is what it reads like.
