For minmax sperglords, it looks like you can get the perception and charisma bobbleheads like 3 minutes into the game once you finish all the mandatory beginning stuff.

I am a minmax sperglord. Not sure about the reduced point allocation at character creation - on one hand, I can improve them by leveling, on the other hand I'm giving up on perks to do so, and it looks like there is no dump stat since most have good perks all the way up.

It will all depends on how much impact the special attributes will have on actual gameplay, for instance I like using VATS a lot, but if the difference between AGI 3 and AGI 8 is one more attack per full AP bar who cares... if it's 3+ extra attacks, I'd like to pump AGI a whole lot more.

S 4 P 3 E 3 C 5 I 6 A 4 L 3 looks kinda good, +1 easy bobbleheads for PER and CHA will allow to get all perks of relevance to me (local leader, mods for everything, lockpicking and hacking) then once I have all the perks I want I can start pumping AGI (for access to Action Boy + faster AP regen + sneakiness), LUCK for more criticals, or whatever else I need

WHat I really want to know is how drastically high Luck affects gameplay. If it's just better drops and more money in barrels, whatever. If there's wacky random encounter stuff gated behind it, I'm gonna want to run Luck 10 or however high I can afford.

That's a concern for me too. I don't want to neglect it entirely and miss out on stuff. I'm probably going to set it to 3 at the beginning and hope for the best..

50 is the highest you get an acheivement for, and the highest any perks require is like 47. There's no hard cap, though we don't know whether it becomes effectively impossile to grind up past a certain level.

Yeah but it doesn't really matter if you can get to level 4000 if you beat the game at level 30 and all the content is done by the time you are level 50.

I'm fairly optimistic about adding hardcore features to Fallout 4. I played Skyrim with the Frostfall mod that added hypothermia and made seeking shelter and fire a mandatory thing, and it worked out really well.

Wouldn't the actual level cap be 285 or whatever where you've leveled every special to ten then clicked every single rank? What would happen when you try to level up again?

Yes but checking the perk charts, just to get all SPECIAL stats to what I want them to be would take 18 levels .. and to max all SPECIAL to 10 requires 48 levels

then of course there's the actual perks to buy ... and I highly doubt you will be able to get to levels above 50 in any reasonable amount of time, so there's still a "soft" cap, unless you can easily get to level 100 and thus fully maxed out in 30 hours or something equally crazy

If, for some reason, you out leveled all the perks you just wouldn't be able to spend perk points anymore. That's it. You have to manually spend perk points anyway and can back out of the perk screen.

As a side note: Perk points are not level gated. You can gain a perk at level 17 and not spend it and then spend two points on level 18 perks when you hit 18.

Well, right, and in 2 there were random encounters you only got at certain luck levels, like the Bridgekeeper or whatever. If that sort of stuff is here, great, if not, high-rear end luck seems like a bit of a waste.

The thing that worries me is I'm already getting annoyed by the voiced dialogue from the main guy... and I can't imagine hearing him say the same canned lines over multiple play throughs again and again with no variation. It would be one thing if the lines were tied to your karmas or something (bad karmas = cool evil dialogue/ good karmas = boring lawful good poo poo) and so I'm hoping mods come out quick to replace the whole thing and give me my traditional dialogue options again.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.
