WD2 is bad but I must admit I do like playing Clem as a steely eyes 11 year old badass who takes poo poo from no-one.

Give me the WD sequel where they fixed the zombie problem and Clem just gets to be a happy, self-reliant teenager

Athena is still cool and a good addition to the Ace Attorney cast, even if her gimmick mechanic is kind of lame and not implemented very well.

I didn't mind it. It was occasionally hard to get which emotion was the odd one out though

I thought it was okay, but it suffers from the same weaknesses of the Perceive system, where it's mostly only used when the game outright tells you to, and the devs evidently didn't have much confidence in it since you never get penalized for screwing up.

Blackquill's mood matrix testimony is one of the best parts of the game and justifies the mechanic.

Best new mechanic is the thought route though. It should have been used more often, even if that kinda goes against how it's just supposed to end cases.

All the extra gimmicks in phoenix wright games aren't implemented the best honestly, though I still like them. The Magatama is probably the best but that's just because it plays the exact same as being in court, and so it doesn't really offer anything new.

That and even in Ace Attorney world, the judge okaying "Oh they're totally not feeling the emotion they're supposed to according to this device only I have" is a bit too much of a stretch. The last case did admittedly make good use of it though, but it was also all but written to do that.

Thought route was good and also had some great music. Though it and Edgeworth's logic aren't really anything that you weren't already doing anyway.

I finished The Buried Giant last night, and quite enjoyed it. It's a shame it got a little bit bad rap online leading up to its release over a combination of silly misunderstandings and plenty of genre-only folks being real weird and defensive about literary authors writing a fantasy book (And of course they ignored that Ishiguro's previous book was sci-fi). It was a cool book and it's quite nice to see a fantasy book that completely avoids any possibility of being a power fantasy.

And now I gotta faff about while taking on tough task of choosing what to read next.

Decided to sneak a peak at the first chapter of Kaiji Part 4 just to get myself excited for later and naught but five pages in Kaiji's already back to making bad choices.

I felt like most of the time you weren't really presenting the emotional discrepancy itself as evidence, rather you were using that as another point with which to press the witness. Though I could be remembering incorrectly, it's been a while since I played DD.

I think the mood matrix stuff probably would have been better if it was used more outside of court than in like the magatama. Apollo's thing is still kinda eh.

Similar to what I said about the Mood Matrix, I don't recall tells themselves being accepted as evidence, just Apollo choosing to press harder whenever he noticed one. Still kind of a superfluous mechanic though.

The fact that the prospect of more returning characters is the only thing the fanbase really gets excited about these days makes me think it would've been for the best if the series ended at T&T. Not that I disliked DD, but it felt like a very "safe" game, and I think that AA6 will be similar, what with the huge focus Spirit Medium stuff is going to get again.

e: I know this comes off as really whiny, but it bummed me out a bit that I knew a good chunk of how the plot was going to go the second Athena's wig out happened in 5-1.
