I rewatched it early last year and it still holds up. I could never get any of my friends to watch the show because they thought I was trying to prank them into watching something terrible. 12 Oz. Mouse (and Xavier: Renegade Angel) were fantastic.

If this is in reference to Nikita, i'm in the same boat. I don't think I made it through the pilot. Which was a real disappointment for me since I am a fan of both La Femme Nikita and the Point of No Return remake. I never watched the series. The way the trainees socializing in the cafeteria was like, the opposite of the oppressive depressing tone that I want in stories like that, I have no desire to watch a teen highschool drama "that's edgy because they're assassins".

That's only the first half of the first season that really has that, and things get considerably more interesting as the show goes on. Xander Berkeley is the most magnificent diabolical villain. YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON SOME PRIMO SCENERY-CHEWING.
Nikita is more the main character than Alex, and the show is fundamentally different from the other properties because it shows Nikita after she got out of the organization, working to destroy it.

Yeah, it's just that in the two films, the organization comes off as really cold and diabolical, and the new series wasn't selling that, so the idea of Nikita's crusade against the CW's hitman highschool wasn't as engaging. I'm sure I'll give it another shot sometime.

Regarding Nikita, I would say, at least fo me, you have to go in with measured expectations. Nikita is no 24, it's a little bit on the lighter side tonally, and can be episodic. It did take me a while to get into. I kind of background watched it until it shifted to a more serial story arc. It's a pretty good show, once you really get into it. I can't recall the episode, (I think it was about halfway through the first season it had Nikita breaking out of chains) but it really started to click for me at that point. It's not on my personal list of great serial drama's, that would be stuff like 24, Sleeper Cell, The Shield, Spartacus, BSG, etc, but I still found it worth watching.

On paper it sounds good. But incredibly tone-deaf to greenlight this in a time where people don't trust cops. Are you really gonna make a show glamourizing or humanizing dirty cops?

It's not assassin high school at all, but it's also not what you're looking for. It's more Alias before Alias got really stupid. Like Nikita would be dropping fools and quipping one-liners.

EXACTLY what I said to myself. But as a movie it'd have to have a $30-50M budget, which theatrical studios are afraid of these days. So as a result, all these mid-scope cop dramas/thrillers that used to be a staple of the 80s and 90s (Blue Steel, Internal Affairs, Sea of Love, One Good Cop, etc) are moving to TV because the networks are willing to roll the dice on them. But the catch is, the story unfolds at a slower pace than it should. See also: Secrets and Lies (though not the best example since it was apparently based on an Australian series).

I watched 3 episodes and I'm entertained by it. I'm not saying it's good, the characters are caricatures, cliches stuffed with even more cliches. Nothing even remotely surprising happens in the episodes I've seen but yet I'm amused by the poo poo they decided to go with like the ballerinas working at the strip club. I wonder if Starz made them put that in to fill their boobs quota.

Yea I have no idea how the gently caress it is supposed to be their most expensive show. Camelot cost 70mil for 10 episodes. I don't even know how this could cost more than that :psyboom:

Yeah now that you mention the bomb that was Camelot (It never looked anywhere close to 70 mil either), I can't imagine how Flesh and Bone could cost more. Then again it seemed to be in post for like almost 2 years, maybe that's where all the money went or something.

I mean at least Black Sails built a real loving pirate ship at least, if I remember correctly?

I'll give it this, I like it a lot more than The Blacklist overall (let's face it, The Blacklist will always have Spader over everything). But I still wish they were 100% committed to "Jane Doe is Taylor Shaw" and didn't have that bullshit tooth weirdness hanging over the whole thing.

Blacklist and Blindspot are the only shows I'm following this season. I guess I like cheesy procedurals with overarching mysteries.

I agree that Blacklist is better than it's ever been. Having Lizand Reddington on the same page and happily working together is a welcome change and has brought a good energy to the show.

I'm also enjoying Blindspot, though I think a big part of that is Jaimie Alexander's performance. She's killing it. The boss lady has one of the worst-disguised British accents I've ever heard, though.

Yeah i'm watching and enjoying Blindspot. The premise is completely ludicrous if you think about it for a few seconds but it works in the context of the show. It's been entertaining so far with a good mystery, bit of good action and some interesting character dynamics.

I think the boss lady's accent might sound weird because she's actually attempting a New York accent rather than just a general American one.

That's good to hear because I love Joe Carnahan and it does my heart good to hear about him kicking rear end, either commercially or creatively. (I'm assuming he's still an EP, even if he's stepping back to work on Bad Boys 3.) My problem with it is more personal: the show's just too drat grim for me. But of course it couldn't be any other way (how else are you going to sell a list of The Worst People in the World?) so I never really held it against the show.
