today i was working on a programming project and got a funny surprise when i typed in the command to install it:quote:lutha@localhost:$ pip install -e . apparently it requires the python module pandas, but the phrase "collecting pandas" just makes me think of someone gathering up a bunch of pandas into their arms and carrying around a big pile of floof

I do wonder about panda social grooming and social behaviors in general because they're supposed to be solitary in the wild.

Let's say I want to give stuffed toy red pandas for Chanukah and/or Christmas. Is there any place selling them where I can be sure that profits go to panda protection? I checked the Red Panda Network's page but they didn't have anything like that in the merch section.

This doesn't go to red pandas specifically but they are one of the animals that they support. The plush is really nicely made and pretty cute. Oh man, that's tempting: http://gifts.worldwildlife.org/gift-center/gifts/Species-Adoptions/Red-Panda.aspx Here is Kin, doing some climbing and eating leaves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGTnkrQaIWU I've been watching some of the older red panda videos, here's baby Red Panda twins Gold and Silver from Nov, 2012: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoA_Mqb0T9Q

RED PANDA HOLIDAY GIVEAWAY I'm giving away 1 (one) red panda "neck warmer," as seen here: http://www.kigurumi-store.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=629 If you would like a chance to win, please reply to this thread with a short essay about why you like red pandas and how they have enriched your life. Maybe post your favorite red panda picture as well. Also put "My Red Panda Essay" at the top of your post so I can find it easier. I will select one person at random at the end of this weekend (Sunday, Nov. 22, 11:59pm PST) based on whether they made a complete entry. Item will be drop-shipped directly from Japan to your location so please make sure you're able to give me a proper address. Also I would like a picture of it when you get it because I have no idea what the quality will be like or even if it's genuine SAZAC. Have fun! Lol The thing I take away from that is that it's looking for a good napping spot. Lots of panda napping congestion apparently.

That's actually what they're called in Chinese as well, although its a size reference rather than quality. Wikipedia posted:In modern Chinese, the red panda is called xiăoxióngmāo (小熊貓, lesser or small panda), or 红熊猫/紅熊貓 (hóngxióngmāo, red panda). In contrast, the giant panda is called dàxióngmāo (大熊猫/大熊貓, giant or big panda), or simply xióngmāo (熊猫/熊貓, panda, literally bear-cat).

We were lucky enough to be able to go behind the scenes at Auckland Zoo and feed the baby red pandas Sundar & Kesari. This was a life goal kind of moment. Unfortunately we couldn't pet them! But that's for the best. I don't know who's happier, us or Sundar: Here he is being a derp.
