Yeah, he's due for a big win, and it doesn't get much bigger than cooking a dish that smells SO GOOD that you force a clearly biased judging panel to both eat it and vote it the best. Like, that's a feat that we haven't really seen yet, right? All the Shokugeki judges so far have seemed to be on the level and judging fairly.

It would be a little hilarious if the people Eizan contracted to force eviction were the people from Chapter 1, and Soma's just like, "'Sup. Hungry? If you want more of my cooking, then get the hell off my lawn."and the smell of Soma's curry just makes them forget what they were there for, and then the rest of the dorm just force-feeds them into submission.

They'll actually use their mad cooking skills to fend them off. Yuuki sics wild animals on them, Ibusaki creates a smokescreen, Ryoko repels them with fermented foods and Souma's curry is his new special roasted cuttlefish and grape jelly curry whose odor is enough to make those who smell it shudder.

Alternatively Isshiki just stands there at the door in his naked apron and dares them to move him out of the way.

She can just challenge them to a battle of table tennis.

Souma's still cooking and forced Eizan to actually prove he can cook and not just manage. Also, the dorm has a full strength fire hose, at least one riot shield and bars. Wtf exactly went on during the "Golden Age" and why isn't the spin-off manga about that time period?

So basically the plan was to piss off Eizan so much that he goes "gently caress it" and tries to actively crush Souma?

Kind of neat but also ridiculously risky.

I'm hoping it turns out Soma had a clue it would turn out that way, but something tells me its coincidental that his clueless nature is creating an opening here. I mean, being clueless about anything that doesn't directly relate to cooking is kind of Soma's schtick.

I mind of expected this since that conversation last chapter about how Eizan wanted to destroy Soma himself or whatever. He doesn't just want to expel Soma he wants to make him give up, so it makes sense that he'd go for a fair challenge to prove that Soma had no chance even without dirty play.

But I don't see why the instant it looks like he might lose Eizan won't just tell the judges to screw over Soma anyway. If only out of spite.

I'm very certain that we'll get a typical manga flashback to explain why Eizan is the way he is.

I'd imagine it might be a case of Soma cooking something in such a way that the judges are driven to tasting the dish. Gyoza being fried dumplings will likely give an enticing sound and aroma during cooking

Just how many mistakes have you suffered on the way here?

An uncountable number, to be sure.
Well, I would call the basic plan "to win over the judges with earnestness." I mean, they're human too. If they start to sympathize with Soma then Eizan's plan is all over.

Neo_Crimson

"Is that your final dandy?"
I think Soma's plan is to goad Eizan enough so he forces the judges to taste both dishes. Something like "Are you too chickenshit to actually cook or what?"

I'm pretty sure we've established they're going to try it because Eizan is arrogant and needs to "defeat" Soma in a way that breaks his spirit.

As a side project of mine I've been trying to perfect my recipe for red-cooked pork and came out with this:

Marinaded, parboiled, then sous vide'd the sucka for three days in my special spice & super umami-rich sauce. It came out amazingly well and the sauce is amazing over rice.

Not as pretty as Nikumi's of course, and I don't have her crazy rack, but it was probably the best red-cooked pork I've ever made.

But it's nice to see he earned his spot, even if it was with :10bux:. That said, I can't wait to see what Souma produces. It's gotta be one hell of a Gyoza to compete with whatever the hell EIzan is manufacturing over there.
