zero mission once again gets it right with the map screen checklists in each zone if you've already beaten the game :smugbird: <--chozo

There is one upgrade in the water area of fusion that I never found. I don't know if it has anything to do with the shine spark sequence break that I could never pull off.

I don't believe there's anything but the hidden scene at the point.

you definitely don't have to do that to get 100%, and I am not sure it even helps you in any way. it puts the word shinespark into metroid canon though

I found the missiles, it was a tank hidden in Maridia in the far wall of the spinning turtle room that I might have never known about. How come Samus doesn't save the turtles, that's what I want to know.

This game is great. They should just churn out a 2d metroid every year. Would be easy now with computers.

this is one of those things like, "the book is better than the movie because it leaves everything to the imagination" right? I can understand how there's maybe a hyper-minimalist abstract sci-fi charm to the stark atmosphere of metroid 1. but the control and gameplay blows. I'm sorry

It's just that ambition was a very large quantity of mostly identical corridors and vertical corridors. Sometimes you get lucky and get a palette swap.

Yeah but it was running on either an arcade cab or the NES. Compare that to what they did on the SNES. Or even what they did on the gameboy

it was certainly groundbreaking and crazy ambitious, it just doesnt hold up at all especially when it has a remake out there that is arguably the best game in the series

MGS1 is still playable, just occasionally rough. Metroid is a beautiful, atmospheric game, but it's not that fun to play.

Canceled forever. I think maybe passed over instead for Other M.

e: kinda wrong about that last part. Sakamoto said the game existed as a prototype in 2010 for a 2d DS game. But the studio that was working on it made a lovely game and they shelved the metroid title along with it.
