InternetJunky posted:According to my histogram in lightroom the snow wasn't blown out. It's just a uniform layer with no texture against a super drab landscape, so I think that's why it looks blown out (I'm probably wrong). it's blown out, you can see the blown out CA along the edges of the center white piece. something about either the optics, your pipeline or something might have reduced the "255 white" to like "240 white" but it's blown out.

This was Camel's Hump in VT near the Montpelier/Burlington area, it's a pretty nice hike and I think I'm going to repeat it in winter. The high mountains in VT, Mansfield and Camel's Hump, are pretty accessible with ample trailhead parking and good mileage for day hikes (especially if you already have a 2hr+ drive to get there), although you can easily tack them onto a larger trip if you wish.

the42ndtourist posted:Easter Island is hard because any picture with moai looks like a travel brochure. Fuuuuuuuck so jealous, it's at the top of all of the places I want to visit. I reckon shooting the moai you'd have to either go balls to the wall travel brochure, with the sun setting over them or something... Or maybe focus more closely on the details, moss and cracks in the rocks. Doesn't Easter Island have some pretty dramatic cliffs? That could be another possible thing to explore photographically.
