Real glad I didn't skimp with a 960 like I was planning; if it's a gaming - oriented upgrade that's just silly.

I fixed the garbage Sebring that needed struts, and got my $100 in actual money from offered-sex-as-payment girl. And then on the way home my 2000 civic decided that it was done running on the side of a 55mph state route. Fuel pump makes noise, so it's probably the coil/igniter/cap/rotor etc because ~Honda~ Now I'm driving my considerably jankier 99 civic that really needs ball joints and rear brakes. Cars suck. gently caress cars.

I like my 960, but I got it for a stupid price six months ago and, as I said, I've got a microatx case and tight heat requirements, and its a budget, not gaming, build. If you're going for gaming, 970 is the bees knees

I just picked up a 960 for $150 vs nearly double that for a 970, the way I see it it's still an upgrade from my 5750. Plus it's that much more I'll have to spend on the rest of the rig, and be able to buy a properly buku card later on. E: Are we still doing mashups? This weekend I replaced a wheel hub assembly on my winter car. After completing the job and throwing the axle nut back on I realized my torque wrench doesn't go high enough for the torque specs (175ft/lbs). Didn't want to bother my friend so I called a local monroe shop and asked if they could just spec it for me and I'd tip em $20 and they said sure bring it over. I get there and wait about 20 minutes and someone finally comes outside with me. All he has is a 1/2 socket wrench and the socket. No breaker bar or leverage of any sort. He puts it on, tried lifting up can't do it. Turn it around and tried pushing down can't do it. He tried for no more than 15 seconds or so and said "This is retarded its way too tight, you're on your own" and walked inside without saying anything else and left me  .Came home, put my 1/2 inch socket on with a *gasp* pipe on the end of it for more leverage. Backed it off half a turn and then drove to my friends house where he specced it in 5 seconds. What a muppet. I've never complained at any establishments before but right away I came home to make a complaint on their website.

The real fun is dealing with this at a company that makes working from home a nightmare (if they even allow it) because they're so overly paranoid about "not getting what they're paying you for". So nobody wants to take their sick time unless they're actually deathly loving ill.

I don't have sick days at my current job. I have PTO that can be used for sick days or as vacation time. Kind of encourages me to go to work sick than to stay home.

She is actually really good about people taking time off, and I already work from home two days per week so if I am feeling iffy, then working from home is fine. I just don't like being sick, so would prefer she apply the same sort of practice to herself.

Fallout chat: I'm running it on a gtx560 and it's surprisingly smooth. The only thing is I know this game is supposed to look awesome because on Piper's coat it looks wet. All of her clothes look wet. You know when in skyrim sometimes a dragon's textures don't fully load so it looks like a blobby piece of shiny poo poo that's breathing fire on you? That's what everything looks like to me. It's so ugly. I want a 970, but gently caress $300 for a graphics card is hard to justify right now. I love having Codsworth say Mister Patrick? It's just fantastic.

Going to work wasn't too bad. Made the new trainee drive asap, missed a few points on his training that I'll go over with him tomorrow. Also found out that my boss was putting me up for a raise of an unknown amount (up to dm). So all in all, totally worth the suffering.

At a previous job I was written up for calling in sick and then and then again about 10 months later when I showed up with the flu, running a 102 degree fever and frequently vomiting. My manager denied having written me up for being sick previously until I showed him the paperwork bearing his signature, and then claimed I didn't "understand" that I wasn't written up previously for actually being sick but for calling off on a Sunday because I was one of a handful of people working that day.
