They are addressing it somewhat in 3.2. Crafted gear is going to be on par with end raid gear from the get go. It will certainly be locked behind specialist recipes and will certainly require high end poo poo to make.

For starters, don't devalue all of the new crafting & gathered materials by putting them in maps from day 1 of the expansion's release. Also, don't gate everything useful behind both crafter and gatherer weekly tokens - gathering tokens should directly provide the materials needed, and crafting tokens should provide crafting gear, easier chance to HQ for specialization, or other QoL stuff.

or give people a reason to want HQ crafted gear

I'm melding 2* crafted gear purely in the hopes that they give us the ability to craft DoW stuff that's actually useful again, but it probably won't happen since they're trying to get away from melding mainstat and poo poo. Crafted gear is worthless because it's worthless, not because of some imaginary pubbie that undercuts you.

I am almost certain they said that with the addition of materia slots on raid/tomestone gear, that crafted gear will be on par. This is a catch up patch. poo poo is supposed to be cheap and affordable right now.

All crafted combat gear has been cheap, affordable, and worthless for the majority of Heavensward so far with the minor exception of accessories for tanks. I'm more than aware this is a catchup patch, this isn't isolated to the current patch. I'm suggesting a way to fix crafting, that is: add combat gear that is crafted that's useful.

That's an odd accusation. But cool, thanks?

I'm sitting on about 10mil Gil right now, so I guess I just suck at decorating?

It's more that I was waiting for 3.1 house sharing so I could have my wife decorate it. But in the time leading up to 3.1, I decided I'd much rather have a house in the goblet.

Pretty much what you and Samba said. There's an entire tier of DoH/DoL gear that is incredibly expensive, requires an already very expensive set of melded gear in order for you merely be able to craft and is one hundred percent useless because there is nothing in the game that requires anything remotely close to it. You also cannot use it as glamour, which is downright criminal because these are some of the best looking sets in the whole game.

The height of crafting leveling gear would be on HW release, but crafted gear is equivalent to gear that you can get from quests, so it's useless. So the starting price is very low already, and by the time people are leveling alts the market will only have crashed further, which is what happened. So leveling gear is entirely useless, endgame DoH/DoL gear is entirely useless. We had a DoW/DoM set that was also completely and utterly useless since it didn't even have a unique appearance for glamouring, and now we have Sky Pirate which is the closest thing to "useful" if you count it for glamour.

Also every patch since (and including) HW's release the DoH balance is messed up. BSM had a grand total of one specialist recipe that is a housing furniture and an ingot. It's bad.

Some of us prefer the high end because we want to do these big budget items for fun, because this way we have to spend less time micro-managing items, or both. Also, it feels pretty drat satisfying to sell a 10m+ item.

No joke, after I decided to quit raiding, I held out for a few weeks gathering and crafting collectables. That is, until it really sunk in that everything people really wanted was just handed to them as quest rewards.

It was a pretty massive let down that on top of all the new grinding they added, I couldn't even make a new goon's day by crafting them some sweet hq titanium this or that, which was something I loved to do with mythtil, etc.

I didn't like the raiding but they might have kept me around if crafter's and gatherers weren't so jerked around. At some level, I know high end DoH/L has always been a bit of a time sink, but something about the way it was done in 3.0 just felt so half-assed.

So I would think we can likely expect 3.2 stats to be something along the lines of:

New crafted gear: i200
Dungeons: i200
Law: gone
Esoterics: uncapped
New tomestone: i220
Alex part 2 easy: i220
Alex part 2 savage: i230 with items to upgrade new tomestone gear to i230

Why would you bother HQing gear that only exists for glamours anyway?

E-peen, mostly.

Thing is, HQ glamour gear is visually indistinguishable from NQ. Maybe that's a good thing, maybe it's not, but I think I'd have liked to have the option of HQing glamour gear, because of a special visual effect, or something. Maybe like the Augmented crafting gear from 2.X?

For a second I considered gathering up mats and having someone craft me a Sky Pirate set for a secondary job, because at this point of the game, gently caress running Alexander Normal in pugs, they're still horrible at it. Sure it'll cost gil but it's only 5 ilvls lower and I could just toss some materia on it and half-assedly make up the difference.

Then I realized that the Sky Pirate sets don't have materia slots.

Go home crafting, you're drunk.

You guys look too hard at the high end, and not enough at the entire market. I tell you the truth, I've made 2 mil since Tuesday morning. I haven't been able to keep my glamour crystals in stock, because they keep selling out, with people wanting to reglamour their old stuff over their new Diadem poo poo, or their new Bloodborne gear over their existing crap.

You can't *always* be making money at the high end with the one-shot-3-million sale. You gotta come down now and then for the bulk sales. Now, maybe that's too "workaday" for you guys, and I guess I understand that. But if you hustle and undercut, sell singles at a premium, and bulk at a discount, you can still make money when your expensive crap isn't selling.

Or don't, and just let me keep cleaning house. =P

Normal mobs are rank III to V, star mobs spawn from tracks, etc. The HP values seem fine, but if you only have 1 party then 1 star and up starts to be a big sponge.

You can tell that's not me, because I wouldn't be caught dead selling in not-Ishgard. Because people are dumb and don't understand market taxes, they leave their retainers in whatever city they hired them in, while Ishgard has been running a permanent 3% sales tax ever since the expansion launched. (Down from 5%.)

(Also, other grades of crystals use exactly the same mats, but return better profits. And selling them in stacks of 99 is most assuredly either stupid, or trying to make money off someone's stupidity.)

You can still get back onto the balcony for the new house glamour by using the CT2 sword: just angle your jump so you jump towards the top tip of the sword around the piece of wood holding the sign up and you'll get up high enough to jump up. I suppose I might as well post this here. If you use the software authenticator on iOS, do not upgrade to iOS 9.2 because the authenticator will not run on 9.2.

Also, iOS 9.1 has known security vulnerabilities that 9.2 will likely fix, so if you intend to connect your phone to the Internet, you should install it as soon as it's released.
