They are addressing it somewhat in 3.2. Crafted gear is going to be on par with end raid gear from the get go. It will certainly be locked behind specialist recipes and will certainly require high end poo poo to make.

Also, don't gate everything useful behind both crafter and gatherer weekly tokens - gathering tokens should directly provide the materials needed, and crafting tokens should provide crafting gear, easier chance to HQ for specialization, or other QoL stuff. or give people a reason to want HQ crafted gear I'm melding 2* crafted gear purely in the hopes that they give us the ability to craft DoW stuff that's actually useful again, but it probably won't happen since they're trying to get away from melding mainstat and poo poo. Crafted gear is worthless because it's worthless, not because of some imaginary pubbie that undercuts you.

All crafted combat gear has been cheap, affordable, and worthless for the majority of Heavensward so far with the minor exception of accessories for tanks. I'm more than aware this is a catchup patch, this isn't isolated to the current patch. I'm suggesting a way to fix crafting, that is: add combat gear that is crafted that's useful.

I'm sitting on about 10mil Gil right now, so I guess I just suck at decorating? It's more that I was waiting for 3.1 house sharing so I could have my wife decorate it. But in the time leading up to 3.1, I decided I'd much rather have a house in the goblet.

Elentor posted:Pretty much what you and Samba said. There's an entire tier of DoH/DoL gear that is incredibly expensive, requires an already very expensive set of melded gear in order for you merely be able to craft and is one hundred percent useless because there is nothing in the game that requires anything remotely close to it. You also cannot use it as glamour, which is downright criminal because these are some of the best looking sets in the whole game. No joke, after I decided to quit raiding, I held out for a few weeks gathering and crafting collectables. That is, until it really sunk in that everything people really wanted was just handed to them as quest rewards. It was a pretty massive let down that on top of all the new grinding they added, I couldn't even make a new goon's day by crafting them some sweet hq titanium this or that, which was something I loved to do with mythtil, etc. I didn't like the raiding but they might have kept me around if crafter's and gatherers weren't so jerked around. At some level, I know high end DoH/L has always been a bit of a time sink, but something about the way it was done in 3.0 just felt so half-assed.

For a second I considered gathering up mats and having someone craft me a Sky Pirate set for a secondary job, because at this point of the game, gently caress running Alexander Normal in pugs, they're still horrible at it. Sure it'll cost gil but it's only 5 ilvls lower and I could just toss some materia on it and half-assedly make up the difference. Then I realized that the Sky Pirate sets don't have materia slots. Go home crafting, you're drunk.

This is almost certainly to catch people buying items absentmindedly.

You can tell that's not me, because I wouldn't be caught dead selling in not-Ishgard. Because people are dumb and don't understand market taxes, they leave their retainers in whatever city they hired them in, while Ishgard has been running a permanent 3% sales tax ever since the expansion launched. (Down from 5%.) (Also, other grades of crystals use exactly the same mats, but return better profits. And selling them in stacks of 99 is most assuredly either stupid, or trying to make money off someone's stupidity.) SwissArmyDruid fucked around with this message at 05:27 on Nov 17, 2015 |

You can still get back onto the balcony for the new house glamour by using the CT2 sword: just angle your jump so you jump towards the top tip of the sword around the piece of wood holding the sign up and you'll get up high enough to jump up. Credit to Doctor Quinn for getting finding out how to get that consistently.

I suppose I might as well post this here. If you use the software authenticator on iOS, do not upgrade to iOS 9.2 because the authenticator will not run on 9.2. Also, iOS 9.1 has known security vulnerabilities that 9.2 will likely fix, so if you intend to connect your phone to the Internet, you should install it as soon as it's released.
