That is what happens. Only people as fast can see it, for the most part. That was shown like 20 different times. Only time regular people see anything is the tournaments and they normally see the result of an action and not the action when people are going all out. Oh, and Mr. Satan because he's the best fighter.

Vegeta suggested putting Gohan on the team because he has the most potential, but Goku says all Gohan wants to do is study now and not fight, and to just let him do that and not get involved. Vegeta made it so the tournament needs people to pass a written test to join so that mindless monsters don't join. And it has Budokai rules.

...Okay that actually annoyed me a bit. I'm glad Piccolo is in but you can't just take Gohan out of it, he's loving Gohan! The guy who beat Cell! The main character during important parts of Z! The strongest being alive on Earth at the end of Z! I get that Toriyama really hates Gohan now, but this is just...

You can't make Gohan the new Yamcha, seriously. This is just wrong. And loving Buu instead of him is ridiculous. I don't care if there's an explanation in-manga, it's still bad writing. Even moreso when Vegeta is absolutely right.

He can probably write his name. And Mr. Satan can teach Buu, which is hilarious.

The idea there is to make sure the tournament has a bunch of people that can all actually interact, I think. No Kid Buus or Yakons or Janenbas; everyone can have dialogue and communicate.

I don't know. Gohan has always been reluctant fighter whose just wanted a clam, quiet, and normal life. Goku letting him not get pulled in the insane, endless battle of his life is good parenting.

Well, by Resurrection 'F' he's reduced back to SSJ1. Buu would stomp all over him without trying.

Furthermore, this isn't that serious a deal. Even if they lost the only thing that changes is Champa gets jurisdiction of Earth instead of Beerus, and he's not gonna destroy it either given how much he loves the food too. Gohan might not see the big deal.

I'm glad that his chumpness is now canon and acknowledged in universe, I think it's good.

E: also I'm not sure, Is the tournament being held on Earth 6? If not, a good cover would be leaving Gohan as a home guard against any non-cosmic threats that crop up during.

Honestly haven't watched Super past the first few episodes. But I'm glad Piccolo is tagging along for the tourney. Maybe he'll absorb Dende on his way off planet and become relevant again.

That would be rad, especially since it would conceivably make him something that the show has to my knowledge never had- a sort of combat medic able to both fight and heal.
