Probably. Bethesda seems to love putting Lovecraft inspired stuff in their games. There's an unmarked location on the map that looks like a little shack, but if you go inside it you'll find a makeshift altar covered with occult stuff. A mirelurk egg sits in the center.

And if you try to pick it up a mirelurk king spawns to wreck you.

Institute stuff. I just got named as Father's successor, so why can;t I turn the institute into a free place or am I forced to keep it a bunch of sheltered dicks even if I take over? I wanna run back to the railroad and be all "Hey stop the plot to free all the synths, I'll take care of it myself in like, a week when I'm the boss." but I have a feeling with this writing that's not possible.

This is honestly my biggest beef with the storyline so far.

I was excited for a moment thinking all my problems just got solved but nope.

At some point Father says 'alright go kill the Railroad dudes' and you can say 'nah I don't want to' and even though you are the new effective Director (having just led a board meeting) Father says 'nah this is an order, do it.' and the Institute plot doesn't progress past that.

Also the Railroad dudes kill the BoS by planting bombs in the airship and the Institute kills them by hacking Liberty Prime to launch nukes at it iirc.

I had the same thing happen to me with Piper. It seems you can only stimpack your companions when the game considers you to be in battle, so go piss off some raiders and it will let you stimpack him. Although one does wonder exactly how a stickpack is supposed to help a synth...

I don't know if I should align with a faction or just keep doing all these sweet side quests. I guess they're side quests, anyway. I just wanna have all the factions be chill with me. Although I did get the ballistic weave from the Railroad, so that's pretty much all I need from them. All of the factions are cool and chill and I just want to be bros. And buy stuff from their vendors.

Also, water purifiers are the best way to make money? Do you just not build a bunch of beds and only use power to make water? Assuming i'm not just pressing tilde and additem 00000f 1 billion.

MY OPINION IS SEERS OF THE THRONE PROPAGANDA IGNORE MY GNOSIS-IMPAIRED RAMBLINGS
So hey. Neat thing if you side with the Institute. I don't know if my choices in the Institute's story arc did it, but I chose to increase Synth development and to always push for making the surface a better place in the meetings with the different directors and NPC's

This seems to actually have net positive results on the surface since I have Gen-2 NPC's from that faction showing up much more commonly in the world and taking up defense checkpoints (Apparently there are hidden areas that aren't actual locations that NPC's staff and guard/base themselves from to do patrols to clear out other locations.) and guarding the surrounding area. They even came to the rescue for my settlement nearby when it was raided. Turns out getting flanked by a bunch of killbots makes for a nasty surprise when the raiders have nothing but pipe weapons. :allears:

It's definitely a pre-programmed thing intended to be somewhat emergent too. Not just entirely scripted. I had a really nasty enemy wander close to one while I was nearby and I was suddenly given a miscellaneous quest to "defend the checkpoint". Turns out the Gen-2 Synths manning it were being attacked by a Deathclaw that was about to go hunting in Tenpines nearby.

Edit: Ahahaha. I decided to follow a patrol and one of them just saved the provisioner caravan not long after that. Literally ran out of cover mid firefight and took a bullet for the Brahmin. Apparently one of their directives is to protect the beef. :black101:

Eh. You can get a good amount of wood and steel real quick if you got the caps for it. especially if you got settlement shops running.

For wood just go to:
Connie in Abernathy Farm
Greene in Greygarden
Moe in Diamond City.

for steel just go to:
Myrna in Diamond city (she has a ton)
The Armor Salesman in Tenpines farm (and i think Covenant)

after every adventure you should have more than enough caps to buy and build a good chunk of whatever you want.

The size limit is real small though. gonna wait for a non-cheat engine mod tho for increasing it. I wanted to build myself a bunch of sky scrapers and casinos.

There's one by the name of Expanded Settlements or some such that doesn't need cheat engine, all you have to do is run a command from the in game console with the workshop selected.

What sucks is there's an invisible ceiling that functions like a 'you're out of the zone, re-enter in 5 seconds or workshop mode will auto-close' wall and it isn't that high on a lot of settlements. Probably going to need to wait for mod tools for that but you can still get really high up on a few of them.

One of Kellog's terminals mention that the orders they got was to kill everyone not related to the infant (Shaun), so I guess the scientist was setting up refreezing you and nobody else.
I think the reason you get unfrozen later is a genuine fault in the Cryo system.

Now you've got me interested. Can anyone vouch for how effective this perk is?

On a related note, I picked up the final rank of Bloody Mess last night (when an enemy explodes, sometimes nearby enemies also explode). Several hours in, I haven't noticed it proc a single time. Seems pretty useless. I wonder if it can even trigger when I'm wielding energy weapons that melt enemies rather than gibbing them, which is what I'm using around half the time.

Is this deception?
I had some asswipe named Parker Quinn approach me while I was exploring the city. He tried to sell me a 'charge card' worth 100 caps. He said I would pay him 110 caps, with the extra 10 being a service fee to him. According to him, the card would be worth more than 100 caps to any merchant and that It was a great deal that I shouldn't pass up. Clearly a scam, dickweed. In mid-conversation I pulled out my double barrel shotgun, went into VATS, and blew his head clean off in one shot. Then I scavenged what I could off of his body. This moment finally made the game worth it to me. One of the dialog options alluded to being scammed, so I feel pretty good about it, even if I might have missed out on some lovely fetch quest.

Your son made you unfrozen. I am not joking. He wanted you to come after him, and made Kellogg set it up. I am not making this up. Where do you learn this? In the Memories, if you highlight objects and activate them, it pauses the scene and gives kelloggs personal thoughts on things, including you, and also made sure you watched him take baby Shaun away to be a challenge to his badassery later.
