Yeah but also Takimaru has a technique for precision skeleton disassembly and that part is Too Cool.

Honestly Food Routine really isn't any stupider than basically everything else in this series. I mean it sucks when it's like "that cool sequence you just saw was totally ONLY IN MY MIND" but that's really less irritating than "that cool sequence you saw ACTUALLY HAPPENED but DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE WE HAVE MAGIC BAUBLES" or... whatever Life is.

The latter works now because we've crossed the pale of what food can and can't do. and the can't list is getting rapidly shorter by the second, and it also was pulled off by a big bad who had a proper introduction and actually established as threatening against another big anti-bad-good-idunno guy who can eat a planet.
Back then Food imagination was a bit too far out the scope. and then this guy shows up and bam mind games food one use power up and then never again is it mentioned.

Food honor was kind of dumb but it turned out alright because it had Chiyo and her zombie bird and her flaying people alive and whatnot. She's still one of my favorite characters after that, that was great. Also terrifying.

I still like that everyone kinda forgot that Chiyo had blasted the flesh from the bones of that one guy and flayed another one half to death.

Well, Chin's still in love with her, which probably counts for something. Also, would you want to be the one who told her "no, you can't join us, you're evil"?

Does dying at this point even seem to matter anymore? It's apparently possible to revive people and even if you don't they probably end up in the back channel or something. Juda straight up murdered a dude, but he seems to be up and running again... I think. Goddamn this series is so hard to keep track off with it jumping all over the place plot wise.

The people who did that got skeletonized. After losing a few members the good guys decided to just let the issue rest.

The morality of the Toriko universe is "food good", basically. A lot of people seem to be permanently dead (barring revival via Acacia's full course but that takes many human lives, or the equivalent energy thereof, to produce, so it's not really a practical option) and no one really seems to care. Beyond Chiyo missing her dead son, which is her entire motivation.

...Which has me wondering if that will come back up during the whole revival thing, one way or another; however, she showed up in the happy flash-forward we got a few chapters ago, so, presumably she didn't pull a heel turn over it during this. Still, given that it was what drove her to being a bad guy before, having this before her seems like it should get some reaction from her, assuming the matter isn't settled via her meeting him in the back channel or something before that.

Tangent about that page, despite them having the entire full course down there, they're only leaving with Another made. Obviously, that's why they went there, but the progression of the entire full course just being before them for a while and them making it, in the middle of a quest to get the whole thing as a step in them getting a single part of it, is really, really strange on a narrative level. I guess the entirety of the full course they're making down there (apart from stuff like the Air that was being eaten because why not) goes to the revival attempt or something, but, yeah. That's still a really weird way for this to go to me.

I assume they're leaving because it would be way quicker to just... go get the full course pieces themselves and have Komatsu prepare them. Everything in the full course is being cooked and has been being cooked since the dawn of time down there so they'd probably have to stick around forever just waiting for it to get done. Why waste time waiting when you can go punch a bunch of animals or plants or whatever to death over the course of like a few minutes and then get to eat shortly afterwards?

Also if I was one of the people sent to get an ingredient and I worked hard to get it and came back only to find that the rest of the crew basically got the same thing all cooked up in a nice take-away bag I would be soooooo mad.

If they kept doing it, now that they have an alternative, they'd probably be upset. However, as it was all done in the goal of making tasty food and they had no other options in the past, it's fine. That soul meat is probably really tasty.

(The characters in Toriko are all horrible people.)

ergo and therefore, in the Torikoverse it isn't murder if you're a cannibal

Actually, it only feels like it took that long! Translation is done in the Back Channel now, so Toriko is already out and the entertainment flavor is at 120%!

Somehow I don't think that golden chef hats are necessary at all, but I loving love that they have them. Golden pot-making and knife-making were pretty hype too.

We'll probably get that for the versions that are captured, rather than just "here you go, the entire full course" in Blue Shell, properly cooked in an amazing/ridiculous montage. Or, at least, have that sort of insanity for the capturing thereof; Pair's cooking was kind of a disappointment and not even really cooking, Komatsu just poked it in the right spot.

Appetite Demon Soul World Cruise Liner is some wacky poo poo that could only exist in Toriko and it's amazing. Shame we didn't get to see some food-demony transformations for the other chefs though, just Komatsu's "Air-Cooking" form. Which was still neat.
