loving score, found someone selling a model m for :10bux::10bux: down the street from me

what's better is that i have actual ps2 ports on my laptop docks

my coworkers are going to have to learn to love the clicky clacky

any suggestions for a mouse to pair it up with?

e: 3 button mouse preferred

e2: current user of mx performance and mx air, prefer larger mice

you want an IBM M-SF15 or M-S30 PS/2 3-button mouse

it's the canonical mouse to pair with a Model M because it's what IBM shipped with the RS/6000

I'll post a pic tonight, I use one with the Model M on my BeBox

I was actually incorrect about the model though, here's mine:

it's an IBM M-SB9-6MD with a 3-4m cable

Apple Extended Keyboard II with ALPS cream keyswitches for scale

the mouse and its associated Model M keyboard used to plug into an early-1990s RS/6000 the size and shape of a two-drawer filing cabinet

I'm pretty sure that system ran Taligent since I scavenged a complete set of Taligent docs at the same time as the mouse & keyboard (alas I couldn't keep the system itself or find any CDs)

Hi keyboards thread

I'm here to report on the quality of the CODE keyboard. This one has greens with the o-rings removed

I'm disappointed because greens are fantastic to type on :( it took me less than a year to do this to the original keycaps. Now I need to sign up for some nerd massdrop to get better replacements.

On the upside, I bought a unicomp to replace this one and that is now my favorite keyboard ever

if you ever come across a Taligent CD set I want it

also, according to people I know who have one, the CD set that employees got when IBM finally shipped the Taligent Application Environment 1.0 and developer tools for AIX (in like 1996, lol) wasn't actually a real CD set: the CDs were printed, but empty

IBM was worried about the software getting out without a properly executed license agreement and support contract or something

Amp it up.

also as a heads up massdrop are going to be doing black friday specials with lots of the popular stuff based on poll results over the next few days

the granite keycap set is winning the custom keyset poll right now which is good because i would really like a set

also FopeDush the tenkeyless code keyboard is winning on one of the polls as well so you might be able to get one of those cheaper

that enter button though

so here's my frankensteined ALPS switch oldass keyboard after putting on the cheap dolch doubleshot keys i got from massdrop

it's okay, but the ctrl/alt/space keys they provided are too small for this keyboard, and the backslash/backspace/enter keys couldn't be switched out due to keyboard layout differences. the f-keys are shorter than the originals which were like double-high, but it works out ok. still, seems nice enough and the keys are a bit lighter, which i like.

also i finally have a page up key again

topre hhkb feel really loving nice but the layout absolutely sucks balls for fps bideo james.. also if you like your arrow and f keys without having to hit a modifier all the time i guess

i use a realforce, but if hhkb made their topre in a not retarded layout, or even a poker with topre switches I'd be all over that

Thanks for the heads up but I really don't want to replace the whole board. I'd rather invest in a nice set of PBT keycaps made for backlighting. Probably these ones, in black:

yeah; I like the ginormo enter key, but moving backslash up there really sucks, also means you don't get a bigger backspace key

still, it was a free kb and it feels decent so whatever
still want a buckling spring one sometime though

I can't see the link but I suspect those are the ones I got. the backlight effect will be disappoint compared to what you've currently got but they will feel superior. they will feel epic as hell
