I found this on the ground!
To throw my two cents in, I'd go for the deluxe ones. I've got the regular and the deluxe and while I'm not at home right now to check, I wasn't really comfortable with the regulars while I clipped all of Combat Commander, Space Empires 4x, and ASL SK1 without a hitch with the deluxe.

Every review for those are war gamers. How long does it take to clip a game? Space Empires for example.

I'm actually genuniely curious why these things were actually invented in the first place. Surely the wargamers' coutner clipper market isn't that big?

rchandra
Apr 30, 2013

They are for rounding corners in general, the most common ones are for laminated badges / ID cards.

When Oregon Laminations found that wargamers were using their products, they made a few more versions better suited to their needs (different corner radii, deluxe version).

Wargamers had their own tools before that that were more DIY - see the C4 corner clipping jig.

Just clipped Paths of Glory in about an hour. Now I have the finger blisters of success.

Speaking of, is there any huge difference between the first and latest versions? Aside from the mounted map.

There were a couple major rules revisions due to the game being broken, just make sure you have the most recent living rules.

I'm curious about the Cuba Libre Content. Is it worth getting the magazine for?

Well in the mag it has some variant rules and a page and a half of design notes and alt history, not that much IMO but I don't have the game.

edit: Also 5 counters for what look like leaders?

Really liked Hammer of the Scots years back, and now that Columbia Games seems to have ~reasonable shipping costs to Europe (until the end of the month) for a change I figured I might pick up some block wargame up. The question is, how do the post-HotS games line up? Crusader Rex and Athens & Sparta came out about the time I stopped paying attention, and I have no clue about Julius Caesar and Richard III: The War of the Roses. HotS still the go-to game from Columbia on this line?

(and yes, I have my eyes on Sekigahara from GMT too, that seems really elegant by the rulebook read)

I personally like Rommel in the desert. It has a few issues (that can be easily fixed) but it really does well at portraying the front imo.

SOL as far as I understand it. If the stock runs out, then it runs out and you have to wait, without getting a discount.

From the email:

quote:

Although we do not anticipate any issues with stock the usual caveats still apply - if we should run out of something you will be contacted and credited for the item(s) which ran out. Sorry, we cannot combine any preorder items with sale items. Sale prices are not available to vendors or retailers. Sale prices apply to WEBSITE SALES ONLY!

Edit:

Are the ASL Journals worth getting? I'm curious at what they might offer, and if anyone here has any.

It just seems odd they'd put it on sale when it's already out of stock before the sale even starts. Unless I guess they're planning on it not being out of stock by the time of the sale

I have a couple of them. Some of them have mini-HASL campaigns which is pretty cool, and all of them have a bunch of strategy articles and about 15 or so scenarios. They're pretty good yeah, especially for the price in the sale.

Currently I'm also looking at Falling Sky, FAB: Golan, maaaaybe Sekigahara reprint and/or Manoeuvre expansion. I'd say a Distant Plain too, but I'm too pumped for the Ceasar right now. So all 2016.

Gotta think up something to get myself for Christmas though. Will spend long hours at work, browsing internet shops for cool oldies.
