The 2nd company called me again today and we are gonna set up an interview some day this week before work around 6:30AM. The HR guy seemed pretty chill. I was pretty buzzed when he called today and called him Dude by mistake. I quickly corrected myself and said Sir but he laughed and said Dude is fine, we are construction workers after all. He said green hirees start at $15/hr but since I have a lot of experience I can probably get more. If I can get close to $20/hr I will be pumped. They do mosly backbone fusion splicing on telephone poles, in manholes (lol CSB), and as demarc feeds -- which is what I also have a crap load of experience in. Needless to say I am pretty confident and excited. I told him I was in the middle of a huge project at my current job and couldn't screw over my co-workers by leaving so I would need to give a 3 or 4 week notice. My weed will be gone tomorrow after TWD and I will start another t-break on Monday morning. To get rid of all my temptation I even turned all my kief from my grinder into a .63g puck for tomorrow. I think I spent more days not blazing than blazing in 2015 to be honest. Surprise surprise.

I swapped my winter tires onto my civic Friday night, and I believe they saved my life a couple times yesterday. East Michigan was armageddon, I drove from Detroit to Flint and back, and I stopped counting at 20+ cars in ditches. Had a particularly harrowing incident on a black iced freeway overpass, where a car nearly rear ended me as it spun off the road. Luckily I applied the brakes gently so when all 4 wheels broke traction I was still pointing relatively straight and was able to stay in my lane. I made two 911 calls during my travels. Hope nobody got seriously hurt or killed, the first snow of every year is a brutal time to take a roadtrip and I will never do that again! I feel pretty rotten today, I spent about 4 hours white knuckling yesterday and I guess being tense that long had a physical effect.

And also ran in to what looked like a super well off Porsche club. Two 996 GT2s, one each of 996 and 997 GT3s, and a 993 (I think, whatever the late 80s were) turbo with a RUF bodykit. All sounded loving amazing.

The handy-dandy app told me that there was a car less than 5 minutes away by foot, so off I went. Sure enough, the car was there and I unlocked it with my RFID card that I also use for public transport. Apparently you can unlock/lock the cars using the app, too. To get people to favour throwing the baby out with the bathwater. On the side of people posting bollocks on facebook etc, it's a little unfair to totally blame the kind of usual suspects for having a stereotypically redneck/xenophobic attitude when they're being submitted to a campaign engineered to push those buttons as much as possible. Ask someone like Cat Interceptor (not picking on you, Cat, but you're the first openly Christian regular I thought of) how they feel about being associated with the Westboro Baptist Church or the like just because they're nominally the same religion. At the same time, if someone's definitely a member of ISIS, feel free to practice your Mozambique drill on them.

That isn't true at all. Most muslim groups have publically disavowed daesh and aq after every attack, but it is under reported (no one seems to remember a huge candlelight vigil in Tehran after 9/11, for example). Very littlr after abortion clinic bombings or OKC, probably because those churches, righfully, don't think they have to answer for a tiny, extreme minority. Muslims shouldn't have to appogize for every lovely thing someone claiming to be muslim does any more than Japanese americans for Pearl Harbor. Demanding a group basically be responsible for a small minority and apologize for all thier actions is kinda hosed up and reduces their humanity. nm fucked around with this message at 20:25 on Nov 22, 2015 |

ilkhan posted:I agree with this, but I also think Christians are much more vocal about disavowing their extremists than Muslims, which leads to the perception (not fact) that the extremists are more mainstream than they are. Muslims have been extremely vocal about condemning ISIS, it's the media that aint reporting it or in the case of shitheads like Murdoch, deliberately misreporting it. I can name a few examples of Muftis for instance being completely clear about their condemnationa nd News Corp making it sound liek they somehow support ISIS. The two facts about ISIS and Muslims have to be remembered - a) ISIS is the old Iraqi regime come back to life and hence uses bullshit to get more suckers in - there is nothing religious about the leader's motivations and b) overwhelmingly targets Muslims. The "doctrine" they spew basically says anyone who is a Muslim that aint going to their area of control and pickign up a gun to fight with them is an apostate and to be killed on sight. If you are any other religion in their areas, you have a relative amount of safety if you pay the "I'm not a Muslim" tax. Being a Muslim and not holding a gun under their flag? You are a dead mofo. So yeah, to be clear, Muslims actually have the most to fear from ISIS and they know it. That's why it's the Muslims who are running the fastest away from the Syrian shithole, they are the ones who get tortured and shot first.

I think another issue is that even moderate Muslims, which make up the majority, still hold views (generally) that are abhorrent to non Muslims. Christians (USA type) are fine with those views as long as they weren't spoken about by a brown person.

Edit: sold the v8 jaguar xjs today. Got what I paid, I would have loved to keep it, but I just don't have the time to work on it and lost interest in it. So I'm not unaware of AMSR, I just thought it was a bit of silliness a few years ago and died. Yeah I'm wrong about the died bit, I had no idea it was THAT popular. Annyway I'm reading the logs of a user we want to know why there's so much bandwidth being dragged from, usually that means porn buuuuuuuuuuut..... I've seen some really odd stuff on the web, this isnt anywhere near the weirdest but still. And the user in question has AMSR on all day, every day. So far I see some guy massaging chicken meat, a bunch of extremely well endowed women talking in whisphers, stroking microphones, massage roleplays, shopping trips(?) zombie wars and singing bowls. I get the stare at the boobs thing and there are some very tasteful boob sets on display... the rest of it is kinda beyond me. Also the fact a few of these things have very good production values, seems like a waste of time to speak softly and crinkle paper. User just gets quietly told to knock it off, no breach of company policy. And one of the strangest things I've needed to explain to a company director and then trying explain that yes, millions of viewers on Youtube really do sit and watch / listen to some guy rubbing sandpaper with wooden blocks. And that is literally more popular - far more popular - than watching awesome boobs whispering.
