Came in this morning to find out that my drawer was almost exactly $50 short last night when the person I share it with counted it down last night. I can't find any place where I could have hosed up and lost a single $50 bill and my only two big bills (1 $50 and 1 $100) were placed in a drop bag after I got back from lunch. So the only two remaining possibilities are that I and the other person somehow made more big fuckups giving change back than we've made in the 8 months I worked there, or the other person on my drawer took $50 out to put in his pocket. This is also a dude who has blown a poo poo ton of money in the last week or so buying poo poo for a new rifle he purchased. So, now I'm likely to get written up and I'm sure thrown under the bus by a dude who usually does the minimum unless the store manager is in the store. gently caress humanity.

If you get written up, insist they get it too, as it is a shared drawer. Also, never share a drawer, retail thievery is pretty much a given.

In what world is sharing a till with someone else a good idea? Or are you saying it's your starting drawer that's shorted? If your store's cash "controls" includes the previous employee counting out a drawer for the next with no verification by management in the middle you're in a pretty hosed up situation in a poorly run business.

This is pretty much how any parts store is set up, along with most other retail outlets I've ever seen. I'm going to be asking to find out if we have any kind of verification check I can do mid day on how much money should be in the drawer when I go back in.

You should be getting a counted drawer to start your shift, no one should have access to it other than you durning the shift, and you should be counting it out at the end.

Most part stores have 5 registers and 15 employee who are in and out all the time. There's no way you can not share a drawer.

Why would they not only let as many people as there are drawers ring people up who are paying cash but let everyone ring up customers with cards? That's how they do it around here. You can't actually open the drawer if you aren't the one logged into the till, but you can swipe cards at any terminal you log into.

It's pretty standard where I'm at, too. You have about 8 people working at a time and four or five working tills. It's so crowded that everyone can see everyone else, so if you're taking money out that you're not supposed to, people will see you - it's all in plain sight and on camera even if no one's around. The drawer won't open without a transaction. You log in before the transaction and it automatically logs you out when the transaction is finished.

I hope everyone gives me money for Christmas to displace all the money I just spent on everyone. I am so freaking spoiled that my parents still insist on spending a good chunk of money on me every Christmas even tho I plead with them not to. I found the missing money. Apparently the person I share a drawer with can't count to 100 and the manager who opened didn't notice that there was too much money in my drawer to start with this morning. (Manager pulls the sealed bags that we prepare upon closing the drawer, opens the ones for the drawers that will be used that day and sets them up with whatever was in the bag) Pulled up all my receipts for the day, manually did the math as to how much should be in my drawer, counted it down and was $50 over. Luckily there wasn't a customer in the store, because I could be heard ranting from outside the building. I took it for granted that they had checked this when they noticed the deposit was $50 short since thats one of the first things I would have been checking. EDIT: And as an apology for ranting instead of being smart and checking stuff properly, have a picture of a '38 ford that a customer brought in the other day so he could find a gas cap that fit. And also Red Faction Guerilla. The one thing that that game has going for it is using your vehicle to destroy enemy building targets. You can race by a guard tower, figure out a good launch path, come back down that way, and launch your car into the air at the tower, which will completely get its poo poo wrecked. I don't think I've ever played a game with more satisfyingly destroyable environments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPjjJLKTHfU&t=43s

Just got back from helping my gf's sister move ~5 1/2 hours away to Dallas, TX. gently caress moving, gently caress the rain, and gently caress the cold. Review: 26' GMC C5500 moving truck: I was actually impressed with the automatic transmission. It would hold gears out to 3-4k depending on how hard you got on it, and would downshift while slowing down. I'm guessing this is the heavy duty Allison transmission that is given so many props. I have no idea what motor was in the truck but it was a gasser so I'm guessing the 8.1L vortec. It was pretty good, got up to speed fairly quick considering the box was packed front to back with furniture. Everything else sucked. Oh and I guess the PS belt got wet or something because it would scream and I was unable to turn the wheel for a few seconds if I cranked it over too hard. Made backing into a driveway from a suburban street real fun. Previa_fun fucked around with this message at 08:03 on Nov 29, 2015 |
