If I play the beta, and I starting from scratch or am I continuing with my current ship and stuff? And when beta goes live, does progress roll over into the live game, or am I "reset" to where I was before I started the beta?

Anyway why are they making all new ships sidegrades at best, useless at worst? Only exception is the imperial eagle which is a straight upgrade from the normal eagle, and I wish they made the same for Viper and Cobra mk IV. Instead they're just slower than their predecessors, and have kinda minor advantages (1 more hardpoint and better grouping the cobra, less power issues and more space the viper)

Why can't we have ships that are BETTER than what we already had? Make them cost more, gate them behind ranks or whatever ... remember that they made hull variants of the Dropship because it was too lovely, slow and unfun and nobody used it, so why are they now taking the good ships and making hull variants ("upgrades" ) that are shittier?

as far as I am concerned the Cobra Mk IV IS better. I don't care about speed, I wanted internals. Which apparently it has EIGHT. If it has a lovely jump range I will probably sing a different tune but I really was looking for a good ship to cram a little of everything and a buggy, and go have adventures.

Edit: also gotta run a guy in a Fed Dropship now that all those underside hardpoints have something to point and shoot at! I will report back

You start from a snapshot of your account that's usually a week or two old. The beta server is totally separate from live and no progress will roll across, they're running it on the equivalent of Public Test Realms in other MMOs.

The only time progress has carried across was from the Gamma in the original launch, it's never carried across from a Beta.

So I bought this game after being interested in it for a while. Seeing it was on sale for 66% made me cave in and give it a try. Did the tutorials, managed to blow up a tutorial ship, hosed up the long-disance warp jump several times but the tutorial said I succeeded so I just accepted it and now tried solo mode for the first time and Jesus Christ where do I start what do I do I have no idea what's going on :psyduck:

I apparently managed to pick up some simple mission where I was supposed to deliever cargo to a certain station but there's so many names and so many places to go and I checked my inventory and I didn't have the cargo I was supposed to deliever which left me terribly confused as to where to go to pick it up and ahhhh :suicide:

Is this a normal reaction for a very first timer? This is actually my very first space-game like this.

To the question: Yes, yes it is.

To the mission issue: Find your keybindings for "Galaxy Map" and "System Map". Go to the Galaxy map, look for the system with the little orange circle above it. Plot a course for it. When you get there, check out your System Map-- you should have a singular station with the same orange circle above it. That's where your mission wants you to go.

Request docking, follow the blue dot, it's like a shed at surface level you can drive into, go all the way to the gate at the back, request return to ship from the crotch menu.

Has anybody found a "Point of Interest"? I'm trying to figure out how to find one, I'm assuming they work sort of like Unidentified Signals, but I might be mistaken. I've seen settlements, and using the wave scanner I've found various rocks and minerals, but I haven't seen a single "Point of Interest", like crashed ships and poo poo.

Everything shown so far looks really great, but I do think the lack of NPC rovers and other human activity around star ports is going to become a sore spot, fast. They'll probably address it before the season is over, but it's gonna feel kind of dead until then.
