If polling holds, Rand is at the kiddie table for the next debate, Carly is on the bubble, and Christie goes back to the big boys stage.

Carly is only in serious danger if we get two NH polls between now and next Sunday. PPP is in the field in NH right now, but will they be the only NH poll? (Fiorina would need either 2% in one NH poll or 3 in two NH polls to drop below the threshold. The latter is more likely.)

If Alex Jones is saying it doesn't fit the profile of a typical mass shooting, presumably that would mean that this is the one single authentic one?

I hope something changes, I kind of like Rand Paul's whiny and defeated trolling, and I certainly prefer it to Christie's aggro-bluster. Meanwhile Kasich really needs to of my debate-watching immediately.

sharkbomb posted:Trump regarding a recent poll: The GOP are going to have such a narrow opportunity to unseat Trump; his overall strategy seems insane when you look at it without results associated, but it's been ludicrously effective. He came into the race and everyone thought that it was a complete joke, and couldn't possibly go anywhere. When he opened up on a line of "IMMIGRANTS ARE RAPISTS" everyone thought he was going to sink like a rock. But that tapped right into a rich vein of angry supporters, and that rocketed him straight to the top. Not a majority by any means, but he pulled off a lead. And once he did that, he transcended human existence and became one with the media narrative. He absolutely thrives off of poll numbers, because he is so incredibly eager to punch downwards--just look at the first two debates where he went off on Rand Paul who was polling close to the bottom, just because he could. It reinforces the sentiment that he's in a position of dominance, and because other candidates are so incapable of dealing with that kind of attack, it makes them look weak and insignificant. And the better he does, the more he gets asked about polls, playing right back into that strength. Jeb Bush, while a complete blunder of a candidate, was at least in a decent, competitive position early on. All Trump needed was two words, "low energy", and Jeb was branded forever. He'll never shake that. Rand Paul was already kinda whiny, but he looks even more that way after getting Trumped. Carson managed to climb up on Trump, but Trump was constantly triangulating, poking and prodding to find a weak point to help along the collapse, and now Carson is having a fall from grace. And it's barely cost Trump a thing. Has he bought a single ad? I think it has to be the early states. If they were going to be able to out-debate him, I think that would have happened already. If he displays an ability to actually win primaries, I don't see how they possibly come back from that.
