Yes they are Cortech Scarabs, I won't really need them til it starts dipping into the 30's but I'll be damned if I have to deal with cold hands a third year in a row.

So what... after you give your chocolate shotgun a good spray with the sink hose you just let the hand dryer air out your rear end in a top hat for a good while?

The Chuck Taylor II's I got on the Converse Black Friday sale just arrived. My first fresh pair of Chucks since like 2004. These are incredibly comfortable, they have a cushy insole, a nice lining and a padded tongue, plus a nice minimal look that's much more modern than the old ones. I'm flatfooted and I do love my Onitsuka Tigers but the arches in those shoes murder me. Chucks give me the support I need -- absolutely none.

Excuse the Resurrection of this, but I have an honest question.

What's the allure of Chuck Taylors? I've tried them on and obviously I lack whatever it is that makes them popular. My last girlfriend wore nothing but them and swore by them. The other folks I know whom own a pair are also rabid as a wolf about them.

It's a mystery to me.

They've been around since the 1920's pretty much unchanged. I think that would add to the allure of them.
