Between all those skill trees and alliance war, Vamp and WW stuff (and soul magic too I guess) the game throws a lot of cool skills at you. Some of which are probably underutilized because of how prevalent class skills are. I always get a burst of pure joy when I see the PRESS X FOR SPIDERS synergy pop up. A lot of class passives rely on having class skills slotted, so you'd be missing out somewhat.

My stamina NB is a pretty decent powerhouse and only uses one skill from the NB skill lines (Ambush), which could easily be replaced with something else. The rest is from the dual wield and fighter's guild lines. wookieepelt posted:I just found one. I only had six fish. You've very very lucky then. They did nerf the rate really hard.

Combat Reticle is nice since you do actually have to target things. Waypointit is also nice if you want to shift into speed questing and such.

Picked this up on steam sale as well - to what extent can I avoid the terrible mmo quest theme park and just set out exploring? I'd rather play this like skyrim 2.0 than bethesda's take on traditional mmo style games.

You can definitely do it on regional level once you're done with starting faction - they're all V1, V2, V3 by then and you won't get oneshotted for wandering to wrong part of the map.

Yeah, the Steam sale on this is really hard to resist. I'm curious about endgame content, like dungeons and PVP. I've watched some PVP videos on youtube, and it does look fun. However I've not really ever gotten that much into playing as a tightly coordinated team in a large realm vs. realm type of scenario. Is that pretty much required to have a good time in Cyrodiil? Or is there generally a zerg to follow around? Ideally I enjoy smaller team vs. team instances. Just wondering if I should pick this up.

With like three dudes you can gank people who are wandering around. With about six dudes you can expect to take down enemy resources like mines and lumber mills provided you have minimal resistance or enemy player apathy. If you want to take down some forts and complete those types of missions, you'll need more guys. Probably 20+? I'm bad with numbers. Once again it really varies on how interested the enemy is but you need guys manning siege engines, guys healing, and guys killing enemy players who are trying to wreck your siege engines. The same goes for defending a keep against a determined enemy. If you want to capture an Elder Scroll, expect a big loving zerg. I usually just roll with a big zerg, but the small scale stuff can happen provided you have good coordination.

What's the best way to level Legerdemain these days. Used to be livestock or something, but I think they changed that. I am thinking I might want to level that up on some chars when I get back before the TG DLC.

Enemies have set levels, but it's not like most MMOs where you'll have an extra penalty (such as glancing blows) fighting an enemy significantly higher level than you. If you are careful, you can tackle things far above your level. You can freely visit high level zones and explore and gather there without being instantly squashed by the local wildlife. It's also extremely easy to get a taxi from people that have visited other zones. The thieving experience is largely independent of levels and offers lots of recipes, vendor junk, and armor/weapons to smelt down.

Since you have only a limited number of transactions a day I really wouldn't recommend it. Might be worth it to launder it, but I'm not sure if laundering items uses up your fencing limit or if they're tracked separately. Break into and ransack houses for the biggest and quickest gains. Even containers that normally only have valueless stuff (food etc) will have special fenceable goods. You can make a good deal of money this way and level Lergerdemain pretty fast. Also a great way to find random recipes. I've found tons of blues and a handful of purples.

If you want to play with goons beyond a shared guild bank, mail, and guild chat, the majority of goons on the US PC side are Ebonheart Pact. There's no way to change your faction without rerolling. You get a Fighter's Guild quest practically the moment you're thrown out of Coldharbour. It sends you just outside the city to check on some cultists.

Fighters' and Mages' guild quests all have a minimum level required to access them. Which means that if you are overlevelled (something very much possible if you do the starter islands (Stros M'kai and Bethnik for Daggerfall)) you can finish one quest for the Fighters and have a courier come up to you immediately after telling you that "the guild has further need of your aid!!!". As for the Glenumbra questline, you get the next one by exiting the city from the East gate.

alarumklok posted:Should I only be doing quests that are equal or greater than my level, or is it worth it to do lower stuffs? Quest experience is basically unaffected by level, but if you're more than 3 levels above the monsters you're fighting, you get reduced kill experience (6 levels above and you get nothing). Staying the proper level involves skipping most of the content (especially under level 50), so don't try to min-max experience on your first playthrough. Just do whatever quests you feel like doing and have fun.

I believe they have changed the targeting on livestock. Find an owned sheep or goat and try to kill it. I think you will find you cannot. Un-owned goats like the ones around the Hundings site in the desert can be targeted, but yield no thieving experience. I don't know when they changed, but I think it is changed.

Are the EU and US servers seperate communities? If I was to set up a character I assume I'd want to be doing it US side if I have any intention of joining the goon guild?

I'm finishing up the main quest now, having done every quest and all exploration/killing in every area (except fighters guild), no pvp and no group dungeons. Typically I've been 1-2 levels ahead of the quests/mobs, then 2-3 towards the end of each area. Pretty much perfectly balanced for solo play - the perfect MMO! Hmmmm, I just had this exact experience, but I deleted anything with version or .mnf or anything that looked like a versioning or manifest file, and it went through and verified stuff then only had to do a very small download. It is super lovely that their launcher isn't smart enough to just work itself out though.

So what's the status of goon groups on PS4? Someone else in my house got the game and I'm excited to try it, but I'm pretty sure that playing with goons is gonna be the thing that holds my attention. I'm assuming I should choose Ebonheart? Game came with explorers pack, so races aren't a consideration, I just don't want to get stuck without anyone to play with since it seems like PS4 goons are a minority already.

I went back to this after daffing around a few months ago, and I was surprised to see that my existing altmer has 0 racial motifs unlocked, meaning I can't craft anything. Did they decide to just reset that for everyone at some point? Do I have to go and find new ones before I can craft anything whatsoever? Because that'd be dumb.
