Swim speed up can help offset the speed penalty of ninja squid and kraken; but having it in general is great for mobility. I like it on my sloshing machine and blaster sets, but Ive seen a lot of successful players stack swim speed with short range weapons as well. Some guys like stacking defense ups to make certain weapons take an extra hit to kill. It works for them I guess. In short, skills matter.

I'm not saying they don't I'm saying the players stacking damage ups and defense ups don't know what they're doing, especially on rapid multi-hit weapons since you can never lower the amount of hits needed to splat with attack up and it takes about 3 main defense ups to lower the number of hits it takes for something to splat you. Well, aside from luna blaster AOEs.

New map sucks rear end as a roller on turf war, it's so easy to get shut out cause it's so hard to be a sneaky bastard. Was much happier once I gave up and went back to the old shooter weapons.

Considering the other nominations and the known corruption of video game awards shows, its refreshing to see a genuinely good, creative and original game win. Finally had time to actually play this, first 20 minutes kinda sucked because I was getting used to the controls and the single player campaign didn't blow me away, then i went to multiplayer and realized this is the most fun multiplayer shooter since tf2. Not a huge fan of the water map though. Question: does level affect only what weapons/outfits can you use?

You can always have Spyke mug someone if you see a piece of armor you particularly like. Level does restrict which weapons you have access to and whether or not you have Ranked mode access. That's basically it.

If you don't like the water map, you may want to get more comfortable with the controls. It was just released yesterday, and is in every way a map for veterans. They really need to expand the stage selection, in any case.

Paint bucket is my favourite weapon so far, unfortunately I started getting level 40-50 guys in my queue who have sniper rifles with actual range and something called a kraken paint roller that seems completely unbeatable. Game still hella fun it just requires good reflexes with the padlet aiming and paying attention. NNID Totalizator if people want to play together sometime. starting to get a hang of movement in this game, and hoo boy, if this game was just a little faster it'd be a bomb rear end arena shooter. It's hosed up that Nintendo are the only ones to make a console friendly shooter that stress the cool things about Quake/Unreal (or even CS) like map/zone control, map knowledge, movement, and weapon mastery over just running in circles racking up frags or playing musical chairs with capture points. Aiming with sticks on top of gyro is still weird as gently caress and I'm never giving up brushes and rollers because of it tho edit:what's the best roller for when you're being zoned out and have to make a push? The suction bombs on the first one feel kind of lackluster with the short throw ranges so I feel pretty useless when my speaker isn't up to force people out of position. Probably one of the dynamos or the carbon roller because of burst bombs. Getting seriously frustrated with trying to reach S+. Was one win away, 3 points away from KO on Mahi Mahi splat zones and then my team just went to poo poo and we lost. 30 minutes before that, I was two wins away and then lost a game because it quickly became a 3v4. That was followed by a string of A and A+ ranked games where I only received two points for a win. Hopefully after the Splatfest is over, I can sit down and win 4 in a row and then call it good. Also, I think the worst part about lag is when I'm using my Kraken and instead of killing someone, I just bounce off them. I hate that it is a physical reaction on my end that not only robs me of a kill but also sets me back further from getting to them. The salt is real.

Played a little bit, these are all really good maps for the sloshing machine. I managed to wipe out the entire enemy team on the oil rig. Kaubocks posted:it's really hosed up that Mahi-Mahi Resort is not in the Splatfest rotation Kind of surprised by that too.

Miiverse graffiti is such a cool concept that I'm kind of surprised it is limited to Splatfests. I guess without any "us vs them" context it would get pretty weird, but it's a nice touch regardless.
