As I sit here after every single episode this season asking myself "What the gently caress is going on?"... Every single time... I don't care what's going on. Because it is incredible.

The episode was incredible, and dramatic, and fantastic. But gently caress me if I didn't BURST out laughing at, "...nope."

So I guess either the supernatural explanation is true...

or the white flash before him waking up in the tub is a massive blast and everyone is dead (which, in a way, also means the supernatural explanation is true).

Edit: and apparently there is an event tomorrow in front of the HBO office in NY where people will dress in white and chain smoke so the show gets renewed. Though to be honest, I'd be ok if this was the end. Nothing can top this. I feel like I should rereg and revote on TVIV's poll just to make sure people don't miss this season.

It was a brilliant ending whether we get another season or not. Kevin reclaimed his identity as a police officer in the afterlife and in the (possibly) real world, when he picked up the nightstick. If there's a Season 3, Jarden could certainly use a new law man so they could go that way.

On the other hand, this season was so jaw-droppingly good I almost don't want there to be a season 3. This run was just so good, I almost want him to quit while he's ahead and let this hang in TV history just as it is.

So what did Kevin lose when he killed Patty? I remember them making a big deal about how he would lose some part of himself if he did it but that didn't seem to manifest in his character in the last few episodes unless I'm missing something.

If next season is going to be as good as season two then full stream ahead. I really didn't think that much of season one. It'll be hard to live up to the standard set by this season.

So Kevin got back to his cave, and instead of his family being missing like the cavewoman his family is all there for him.

I think if there is a season maybe the Murphy family becomes main characters? Kevin's story feels pretty complete.

I liked this episode and season a wholllle lot, but yeah, that ending felt way too happy (in, like, an "everything is awful but right now not for Kevin Garvey Specifically" way) for there to be a 3rd season. But I'd still be excited if there turns out to be one.

I liked Season 1 and I was happy that it got renewed and all but with the book material gone, I just wasn't sure where they were going with it. I didn't even watch the Season 2 trailer for a while because I wasn't really that excited about it. Then they did this. I don't know where go from here, but if this cast and crew want to take us there I'll be ready to follow. poo poo, even if gets weird or bad, we'll always have this season as it is. I can't wait to see what's next.

I think if they stick with the POV structure of this season it should be too hard to shift the focus from Kevin (which is kind of what they did for the first half of this season). I could use a lot more Nora going forward.

Suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

I'm glad Garbey finally realized he loved his family. He spent two seasons thinking about running away. It was a nice reminder after all the sadness, there can be happiness.

The consistent quality of season 2 is what amazed me. I remember being amazed at individual episodes in season one, but after one or two boring episodes in a row I would question why I am still watching this show. Season two was rock solid episode after episode.

I'd vote in it if it didn't require a list of 10 shows because TVIV is for mentally ill people who actually watched more than 10 shows this year lmao. There have been like 3 or 4 shows worth watching this year, tops.

I agree that this finale felt a bit weak, but I think that's in part due to how happy the ending was. The Leftovers is about pain, misery, catharsis, and we veered off that path toward the end.

I loved every bit of that episode. If we get a third season, I can see the Garvey's being more of. supportive cast to the neighbors. Though there is plenty of drama available with GR in town plus Meg's beef with Laurie.

Because I watch an absolute fuckload of television I can say that Boardwalk Empire season 2, Breaking Bad season 3, the final season of SFU (but really that's the series finale, which is almost inarguably the all-time greatest series finale), and Mad Men season 4 all make good arguments

but yeah The Leftovers season 2 is easily within such esteemed company as those
