Yes it is, it's also the first female blue since Hurricanger (as well as the first female to have what's generally considered the "male" shade of blue since Liveman) and the first time we've had a male yellow two years in a row since Gaoranger-Hurricanger.

I feel like the Magi color was lighter, but she was still Blue so.

Also I thought there was a black Gorilla ranger but they aren't in the scans. Is he the extra? I thought it was two teams of 3.

If there is, the animal design would have to be a different color as the standard one would be invisible on a black suit (same goes for the sash on a yellow Kyoryuger). It's also possible the Gorilla mech could just be rangerless like Carrigator and Jum-bowhale were in Go-Onger.

So, Ninninger this week. I thought it was a bit weird how Mangetsu announced himself as the eldest son, since as far as we knew at that point he was an only child. Then Kyuuemon let slip that he's "Kibaoni" before destroying the machine, so I'm guessing he's actually Mangetsu's brother.

Either that or he's Gengetsu himself and has been pulling a long con all this time. Either way, unless the mask is the real Kyuuemon and he's been controlling Izayoi all this time ala Dogold I'm guessing that he was never human to begin with and only posed as such in order to get at the End Shuriken and steal Ninja Dad's nintality. Kyuuemon has been the only interesting thing about this season so far and I'm curious to see where this little revelation goes. Maybe we might at least get a decent ending to this series after all.

I was impressed that Nininger managed to go like 13 episodes before going back to the thesis of the series; "Be more like Takaharu. He is the strongest and lives the best and everyone should love him. Those 13 episodes were pretty good though.

I think that's what I'm going to end up taking from Nininger. "Parts of this show were mediocre to good. Parts of it were awful. It averages out to bad."

Unless these last 8ish episodes are super surprising.

What I'll take is that Kasumi is a far better character than this series deserves. Seriously, she quickly became my favourite Pink in history and that has only grown more with the focus on her thanks to Mangetsu, and I'll be really, really annoyed if this ends with Takaharu taking Mangetsu down instead of Kasumi.

Also mecha piloting mecha piloting mecha is great and I love basically every Ninninger unit, even if I dislike how Shurikenjin's alternate formations work.

Sadly it doesn't make up for the terrible Red, how bad the series started, or how bland every villain apart from Kyuuemon is. And Kyuuemon, while good, is not good enough to carry the series himself, he isn't Enter.

Please be good, Jyuohger. Although considering how Ghost ended up, maybe I shouldn't ask for this...

ghost and ninnin looked really original and wacky from first impressions but ended up kinda so-so (ghost is still early but I doubt it will be anyone's favorite Kamen Rider). So it's okay for me if this one doesn't have anything like that so far.
Really it looks like this knows it's a children's show. That's fine. I find it really charming and I do not buy sentai stuff anyway.

It looks a lot like toQger, with everything for the heroes being simple, striking, colorful, and fun to look at. If it becomes a love it or hate it series like that was rather than unified boredom like nin^2 then that's fine by me even if I end up in the hate it group. (and making that comparison makes me really want to see the bad guys).

I believe that JAKQ, Changeman and Kyoryuger are the only seasons not to have a Yellow Ranger. There will never be a Sentai without a Red but one without a Blue might be possible one day, probably unlikely though. What is the reason those two colors always seem to be mandatory anyway?

It feels like it averages out to be forgettable. I can't believe it's up to episode 40 now when it feels like there's barely been 20 episodes of content.

Seriously, more often than not it seems like the plot is just spinning it's wheels only moving forward a little bit at a time. We're almost at the end of the series now but it feels more like it's somewhere in the middle. It's actually the opposite problem I had with Kyoryuger, there I felt the plot moved too fast while here it feels like it's barely moved at all. Like I said, hopefully we can at the very least get a decent ending out of this.

If Takaharu actually sounded like he was fired up, it'd be instantly better in my book. Even if "Daigo Sentai Kingranger" was as bad as the moniker suggests, Daigo definitely sold his role as enthusiastic Red.

Star Ninger got a new super form and if I'm not mistaken this week's episode is the only other time he's used it since its debut. Every other time he's just thrown the sword to somebody else for them to use.

Ninninger seemed like it was getting better when the Transcendent Brace broke but it's started sliding back down again, Mangetsu's debut episode was really good though. I definitely agree that it's weird to think that we're entering the final stretch of episodes seeing as how it really does feel like a whole lot of nothing has happened. It's a shame the series turned out to be so disappointing after how good everything was after Goseiger.

I don't even want to call Ninninger bad...it's just consistently mediocre as hell. Like a couple other people have mentioned; I feel like we're in the teens or twenties of episode count, not coming very nearly to the home stretch.

Wizard started getting to plot proper in its 30s when Wiseman finally showed up with his diabolical plan, and then picked it back up in... last four proper episodes or so? Ninninger has been taking baby steps in comparison at least, now let's hope it keeps a decent pace through the last episodes.

As much as "your first Rider show" may apply, Wizard is really forgettable and dull. It's saving grace is Beast and Gremlin mostly, with some Phoenix sprinkled in.

I brought this up before but no one really responded and I'm still not sure; like I get that this is a Japanese Kid's show, so I'm honestly curious what kids in Japan think of Ninninger. Like, do they enjoy Reds who are unequivocally the best at basically everything and who essentially do everything themselves? Like if that's the case then I can't really complain too much about Takaharu because that's what the target audience wants, but I feel like when I was a kid- not that I"m that old now but that I might be nostalgia glasses-, I liked it when it was more then one hero since my favorite usually wasn't the red or whatever.

I'd probably be less annoyed by Takaharu if he was acted better. Yeah, Daigo was pretty much the main focus of Kyoryuger at the expense of the others but you could at least tell the actor was having fun with the role. I'm not sure if Takaharu's actor had been in anything prior to this but it seems like he either has no idea what he's doing or isn't sure whether to take the material he's given seriously or not, I thought the same thing about the guy they got to play Amazon in Kamen Rider Decade.
