I've never used clear colours before so it never occurred to me. Though after it had a bit more time to dry (I took the photo shortly after applying the blood pool) it looks gross enough to pass as a bunch of drying blood so I'm not unhappy. I'll give clear colours next time but I'll probably use a mix because I think straight-up red might be too much.

More hints: lay the brush flatter when doing hazard stripes, easier to make them straighter that way. Also, blood pool - either Tamiya Clear Red or GW Blood For The Blood God (their technicals are the only stuff I'd buy from them), take a poo poo brush and stipple it on.

In other news, I finally stopped losing minis in my home and organized my Infinity painting queue :toot: the bad news is that my Infinity painting queue is 12 pizza-sized boxes, not counting commissions :suicide: I might have a problem.

So all of my infinity stuff got stolen over the weekend. I was going to my girlfriends place after a 200 point ITS tourney(took 1st woo!), and left my battle foam bag in my trunk. The thieves popped the driver side lock, took the change in my ash tray, and found a fancy, expensive looking black bag in the back. Suffice it to say, i'm pretty bummed. I was house sitting my parents dog for the last week, so literally every single infinity model I owned was in that bag since I had 3 tourneys that week.

I'm the saddest about losing my Angel Giraldez Joan of Arc book model. I had just gotten it on tuesday(for free) from a local guy who happened to have an extra. Really lovely weekend. Any suggestions on how to get a new one without spending insane dollars on ebay?

What is the deductible on your rental/homeowners policy, and how many miniatures are we talking about?

Basically, is it worth making a claim? Probably not, because this isn't GW.

Sorry to hear about that. What all did you lose?

Feels like I just got laid
Tangentally related, a guy in our group lost his briefcase of Dark Eldar minis after a tournament. Years later he gets it in the mail. Some junkie probably mistook the briefcase for something valuable (little did he know!) and threw it away. And elderly couple found the briefcase in a bush and gave it to their grand kid thinking he might appreciate it. The kid noticed after a year or two that the original owner had written his name and adress on the inside of the black lid with a dark blue marker and returned it!

With the supposed upcoming cleanup/changes to holoprojector in HSN3, I've been thinking about Yasbir again. Has anyone here used him? I've owned the model for what seems like forever and yet never put him on the table. I feel like the non-impetuous smoke grenade access could be worth the hefty price tag, especially when I'm planning to bring multiple Djans anyway. I'm not sure whether deploying as holoechoes or as a Halqa would be better for keeping him alive; I like the latter as a way to bring smoke out totally unexpectedly.

That the order doesn't have to come from the same pool as the troops being moved.

It may be less a new ruling and more a thing that we totally overlooked here, but either way it's a pretty big deal

Why? You're still paying a command token for it, so you're moving 4 orders maximum.

Flipswitch
Mar 30, 2010

Because the order is coming from a different group, giving the (now co-ordinated) group another order to spend. It's not a huge change really but it's one that's quite clutch in places. When you really need that extra order you can get it by using a Co-Ord Order from the other combat group where it isn't as needed.

It increases your reach, which was previously capped by the combat group limit and whatever mobility skills you could fit onto your rambo. It's part of why bikers are so obnoxious when backed by a ton of regular orders.

While I may not be ramboing, I'll definitely be using my second combat group to launch coordinated orders for my main combat group.

The pawsting business is tough work.
This is the first list I've made that's more complex than "get as close to 300 points of PanO as I can." General plan is to have the MBs linked and attacking things while the Tomcats go hunt objectives. Tell me all the things I did wrong.

Jurisdictional Command of Corregidor

Corb's right, the combat groups are a bit fiddly. Even if you're using the sniper only for AROs, you might as well have his order contribute to others in the order pool. I've done a little rearranging:

Jurisdictional Command of Corregidor
──────────────────────────────────────────────────

Group 1 10 0 0
MOBILE BRIGADA HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 42)
MOBILE BRIGADA MULTI Rifle + Light Flamethrower / Pistol, Knife. (39)

Beyond that, consider a few things:
-If you expect your poo poo-kicking link to team to be in the thick of things, you'll want at least one of them to be a specialist so that they can grab objectives after taking ground.
-Consider adding a Bandit. Having camo/infils on the field allows you to exercise more map control and deny lanes to opponents, forcing them into unfavorable situations, which is hard countered by...
-MSV. You have your single Intruder, but be careful you don't position him in such a way that precludes using his MSV to counter your opponents camo (e.g. plopping him in a building with good firing lines but no easily accessible exit.)
-You have plenty of specialists, but they might have issues making it to the objectives in a single piece. Don't be stingy about dropping a few coordinated orders to move up some Alguacils to form a second line of defense. I'm really bad at this myself.
-Consider bringing some of the cool remotes. The Reaktion Zond and Stemplar Zond are both great.

Okay. It seems like my only option for MB specialist is a hacker, so I'll probably swap out the Alguacil for the MB version.

I had thought about replacing the Tomcats with their Bandit equivalent for the camouflage, but I have a stupid question: is there an actual model for the things? Part of why I'm putting this together is to make myself a shopping list.

Failing that, to get more MSVs in play, would I be better served taking a couple of lower-grade Intruders?

Finally and most shameful, I know nothing about remotes, other than you need a hacker or a TAG to run them. What are they for, what are they good at, all that good stuff.

Not sure about the Bandit models.

As for the intruders: yes yes yes yes. Intruders are some of the scariest models you can field. They're absolute beasts at BS13, Camo, MSV2. Probably the some of the best Medium Infantry in the game. However, they're slow (4-2) so deployment is very important. I'd recommend swapping out your Sniper Intruder for an HMG. The sniper only really offers DA ammo in the ARO versus the HMG's burst 4 in the active turn. Combined with Surprise Shot and MSV2, there's nothing in the game that shouldn't be afraid of an HMG Intruder on the active turn.

Remotes offer skills and equipment not available to humanoid troops. They're also more durable in that they have more dead "hitpoints" so they're harder to finish off. In exchange, they're susceptible to hacking, and have big profiles. Jump on the Army Builder and just click through a few and their skills. Two really excellent Nomad bots are: the Reaktion Zonds with Total Reaction (they get their full burst in ARO), 360 degree vision, climbing plus, and 6-4 move; Stemplars for anti-mine duty.

e: Be sure to proxy before you buy. You'll definitely want to get a feel for what you like. My Nomad bud hates Bandits 'cause he's a crazy person (and they're irregular), but you might be in same camp after running them a few times.

Thanks! I tried using a piece of thick magazine paper (from a flyer left at my door) as a straightedge but in spite of my efforts the paint leaked underneath a bit so I had to freehand it. I didn't think about it at the time but I should have used painter's tape. The stencil had a similar problem but if I was careful and dabbed on tiny amounts of paint at a time it didn't leak.

You can scribe lines into the base to act as markers and just paint between them. Less troublesome than masking for brushpainting.

Similarly for the stencil use a pencil to draw the lines then paint those in.

Finally got my first few games with Hassassin in, both Supremacy.

I got demolished first games when I went second and failed to bring down my opponents TR bot with my Fidays. 2nd games was really close and was decided by Al Djabel pummeling down an Anathematic to secure a zone.

Still, I'm a bit sad to say that it would have been strategically far more effective to just swap a Fiday for Saladin and play
vanilla. If I'm not running a Muyib link it just doesn't seem worth it to go HB.

Also, I need to learn how to use my Mutts better. Datz and monks are so good at just smoke dodging everything that these just seem so exposed and fragile when running into fire.

Gotta say though, not particularly keen on the impersonation rules having to be gimped vs alien armies. I mean, fluffwise it makes sense, its lovely that it becomes less effective in those two particular match ups.

I like the idea of MRRF, they seem pretty cool and like you could do a lot of unique things with them.

I think, if you're coming from a warhammer background you're going to be wary of trap choices. I'm really, really green when it comes to Infinity but I think it leads a little bit more towards just playing to your strengths. So if MRRF appeals to you and you like to play a certain way, just pick up the models and see how they work for you.

It'll be more of a combination of what armies are prevalent in your area and your preferred play style that will determine the success of some builds. Like if you play against a lot of smoke heavy armies, or infowar styles armies you'll find certain units more effective.

If you're friend plays Nomads and is used to offensive hacking for a lot of his offence he'll be a little bit hosed over playing you haha.

Yeah for like the last year of 8th edition warhammer I had one list I could literally bring to any event and place in the top 3, Infinity doesn't seem like that.

Then again I haven't played infinity in years and I've only played in one tournament for it and it was at Gencon with 1st edition rules.

I love pretty well all the minis, just not a fan of the Briscards. I am just trying to do a order for Minis and I am not sure what to get aside from the starter box, not planning on ordering everything so I just want something that will give some fun options.
