Except for Matt Engarde, who's sketchy from the outset and only turns out to be even worse.

And the Space Captain from Dual Destinies, who was actually guilty of something, just not murder.

Space Captain wasn't your client, though I did dig the twist that he was actually lying to cover for the defendant because events as he had witnessed them made the defendant look guilty.

I had to look up Lana Skye's name, which means it's probably time for me to play through the series again.

That case in general is really good at making you legit doubt the defendant at points.

No, that means they need to remember Lana exists when they bring Ema back for AA6.

Though playing through the series again is also acceptable.

How many cases in the main series have the client confess to being the guilty party? I count 9 out of 24, so just over a third.

Why does everyone think I'm going to get in trouble?

1-4, 1-5, 2-4, 3-1?, 3-2, 3-4?, 5-2, 5-3, 5-5. I think that's right, so 9, yeah.

Oh snap, I forgot a bunch of those. There's also 2-2 and 3-5 and 4-2, so that's straight up half the cases.

Yes. I mean, technically she thinks it was the spirit, but she takes responsibility for not controlling it.

They usually are not as suspicious as Espella, and they also don't usually cause problems throughout the entire game.

The first is up for debate and the second is almost strictly because most Ace Attorney games are structured completely differently.

Yeah, from what I remember, Takumi had 2 months to write each case in AA1, so when Capcom demanded JFA, they wanted it done in like half the time or something.

I don't wanna I don't wanna I don't wanna I don't wanna!!!

I also like that Takumi tried to make the first game culturally neutral for a localization, but because we didn't get the games til the trilogy was completed, he went "gently caress it" for 2 and 3.
