Wedge Antilles(40) -R2-D2 -Outmaneuver -Engine Upgrade Han Solo (59) -Push the Limit -Jan Ors -Recon Specialist -Millennium Falcon -Engine Upgrade Would maybe Lone Wolf be better on Wedge, or another EPT? Also am I right in thinking that if Han does a Focus and Evade Action, he'll end up with 1 evade from Jan, 1 evade from the action and his focus? She says "a friendly ship" not "another friendly ship". The Engine Upgrade is for when he's out of arc or range and doesn't need to evade.

The more you think about it the more your brain hurts. I get why George did it, and it does make the space combat scenes more exciting in the movies I'm sure, but it is also dumb.

They could skim over the trench in a "down" position to cover the X in the trench etc etc. It is space, there is friction. As long as they have maneuvering thrusters to orient the ship you can move in a straight line independently of where your ship is oriented.

Meanwhile nobody cares, because Star Wars is fun and physics was obviously not the point of the series. I'd love to hear you talk for paragraphs about how the lasers in Star Wars are actually plasma because they're supra-luminal and it's very worth hearing about.

I mean if you want to go all hard sci fi on it, there's basically no reason to have humans piloting a ship at all, or to have fixed weapons over all turrets, to be firing weapons in visual range of the enemy, etc. Everything will be computer controlled because a fight in space with energy weapons will probably last fractions of a second. But it wouldn't be Star Wars at that point so who cares. SW has always operated on the rule of cool.

Realism doesn't matter in Star Wars and there's also an excuse for everything in the EU anyway, so just take things as they are and enjoy cool space fights.

I think the argument is that it's cool when Star Wars deviates from the norm and goes all realistic with zero gravity maneuvers like when Vader made his TIE Adv moonwalk while simultaneously owning a couple of Prototype A-Wing pilots. More of that would be awesome. bunnyofdoom posted:Make it a modification. That would be pretty sweet.

So I think I'm in love with Glitterstim - something is satisfying about having a brobot surrounded by enemies and then popping a stim and turning certain death into a cascade of misses. Two brobots flew pretty well together, but are there any mixed list that are particularly good? Maybe an Aggressor with a Z-swam, or an Aggressor and a Firespray?

I found that a single Aggressor with FCS and Autothrusters is a solid 40 point investment. 60 points is a fair amount of wiggle-room...I paired mine with Blaster Turret Kavil and Guri + some mods and it worked out pretty well for me in casual play.

The Bounty Bros list is lots of fun to play. It is usually pairing up Boba Fett with an Aggressor. Boba Fett wants to be in the thick of things while the aggressor hangs back and snipes with a HLC. I think my version ran Recon Specialist, PtL, and Engine Upgrade on Fett (double focus and evade when stuff is at range one makes Fett harder to kill, especially with his rerolls). IG-88B has VI, Fire Control, HLC, and Autothrusters. VI on the aggressor lets you choose which ship moves first, which I found helps a lot with picking Manuvers when they are near one another. Finally you have a few points left over for illicit upgrades. I played this list before glitterstim, so mostly threw inertial dampers on the ships.

Space garbagetruck with an Agressor is pretty fun too. Zip around with the IG and the Yv comes lumbering along.

Welp I got my poo poo kicked in 4 times tonight twice running Echo/VI/Adv Cloak/Adv Sensors/Intel Agent and 2 Royal Guard Ties with PTL/Autothrusters/Stealth Device and twice swapping one of the Royal Guards for two naked Epsilon Squad TIEf/os. Against Han/Poe twice, Chewie/Dagger Squad/Basic T70 and stresshog T70/Ten Numb/Poe. I acquitted myself OK against Chewie played by a total newbie (still lost), but got owned by the other two so hard. I like nippy arcdodgy interceptors, but I'm not yet good enough to fly them effectively, and against tough tournament winning builds like Han/Poe it's a real struggle. But I got some practice on my blocking and maneuvering, so it's not all bad I guess thespaceinvader fucked around with this message at 01:07 on Dec 10, 2015 |

Poe/VI/Autothrusters/R5P9/Weapons Guidance. Han/C3P0/Engine Upgrade/PTL and I think Kyle Katarn. It was an absolute horror to get with my list flown by a highly skilled player. I think I could have stood a chance reading Poe right with Echo and getting behind him, because a few 5 dice shots up the tailpipe will do for Poe pretty quickly, but the dice were not in my favour the second time with Echo and she died before getting a shot off. The Royal Guard did OK but I think killed himself with asteroids, and the Epsilons were only ever there as blockers anyway.

I've flown a similar list a few times but with Whisper instead of Echo and no Intel Agent. It's super fun, but super tough. A single bad defense roll can mean doom for each of your ships, and once one of them dies you lose coverage and you end up with a cascade effect of dead pilots.

Yeah, running arc dodgers against an enemy that moves last is something of a nightmare. Honestly, with what you took against those lists, it would be tough for even a very experienced player to win, so don't feel too bad. If I'm taking someone like echo or another elite-but-not-ps-9 pilot I like to take either Soontir or Vader so that I have something else for them to worry about. Might not work with your build exactly, but it's something to consider.

Autothrusters will be pretty helpful too in that sort of thing. Integrated gives you more resistance to alpha from a big shot (like a Phantom) but Autothrusters leaves you better off against turrets and multiple attacks in general.

bunnyofdoom posted:Why the gently caress woudl you but a comm relay ona t-70? They ahve no way of getting evade tokens in that list. You could also run a list like this: Keyan Farlander (29) Sensor Jammer (4) Jan Ors (2) B-Wing/E2 (1) Poe Dameron (31) BB-8 (2) Comm Relay (3) Integrated Astromech (0) Blue Squadron Novice (24) R2 Astromech (1) Comm Relay (3) Integrated Astromech (0) Total: 100 Keyan Farlander is a decent threat on his own (and always is), but adding Jan Ors means Poe Dameron and your Blue Squadron Novice can pick up Evades in the opening two rounds and keep them for the engagement. Get an extra bit of survivability out of each. If you want to play defensively, you can keep picking up Evades on both of them as long as Keyan is alive. Your enemy has to choose between trying to burn through the extra survivability that Jan gives them or swap targets to Keyan, who isn't a pushover. Sensor Jammer makes him a little more durable, and it forces your opponent to take a Focus every time they want to shoot at him or lose their hits. Might keep him alive a round longer, might encourage your opponent to fighit Poe or BSN instead, might not. Be fun to play.
