open24hours posted:I heard of someone doing a data mining project who paid a guy in India like one cent per photo to go through thousands of them tagging things. I mean I know it's efficient or whatever, but goddamn. Union needs to get onto it before we're all out of a job. I worked on a thing recently where there was the ultra high tedium job needing to be done. The Indian guy did it (and best I've seen that sort of job done) for $4,000. The lowest quote from a local was $47,700. You can't compete with this. Don't try.

Trump is good because his party can't get elected with the likes of him speaking for them and Aus won't end up in more wars that we cant afford and dont care about. Trusting that Clinton won't go full warrior on us.

Clinton isn't a very progressive choice and is neoliberal at best, though nowhere near Republican brand crypto fascism.

Rather than having contractors come in they would just outsource on e-lance for a fraction of the cost and if a guy wasnt working out or was doing a bad job then they just binned him and got someone else immediately. it basically turned the entire development team into project managers who delegated work to an invisible workforce. it sorta sucked tbh. totally killed the awesome collaborative vibe we had in the team. Apparently now that company is gutting basically every department except for the heads and outsourcing everything that is 'work' and when something needs to be 'created' its done by one of the skeleton staff left behind.

I knew Trump was leading in the polls but it's actually horrifying to see by just how much: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationwide_opinion_polling_for_the_Republican_Party_2016_presidential_primaries All the other Republican candidates are getting piddling little numbers like 3% or 4%. Trump has been consistently polling around 30% since the middle of the year.

"The security breach was caused by human error" Someone's going to need retraining on whether to hit the button labelled "let the sword wielding goon into the station" or the one labelled "don't let the sword wielding goon into the station"

freebooter posted:I knew Trump was leading in the polls but it's actually horrifying to see by just how much: It wouldn't surprise me if he got the Republican nomination at this stage. Sounds like people are suspicious of the mainstream candidates after decades of the establishment republicans loving them over in the name of big business but are too conservative, uneducated or afraid of breaking the family voting tradition to make the switch to the dems. He'd have to be an outside chance at best of becoming president, but at the same time it seems risky to bet against the stupidity of Americans. At any rate, he'd be a laugh for a few weeks until we all remember that he controls the worlds largest nuclear arsenal.

The one positive thing about the idea of trump getting nominate is the likelihood of voting is far more dependant on your fear/hatred of the other party's candidate than belief in your own party's. Trump will scare a lot of people into turning up and voting democrat.
