i wonder if there's a study of people earning wages of around 95-105k and what the rates of firing are for people making over 100k. i bet they're higher even if the difference in money's not much due to reasons along the lines of psychological pricing.

this is the graph i was referring to: that is all engineers. i think IT engineers have slightly higher salaries across the board. also these are monthly earnings, so "six figgies" would be 8333 on the graph. yes, the graph ends at 7000

ive found that the best way to get the six figgies is to actually be motivated to do poo poo and not just sit around on facebook and reddit all day. the best way to do that is to want to learn. following this life advice got me to 100k in about a year of trying and im way more interested in doing my job than 2 years ago when i just goofed off at work since i wasnt motivated

imo its fine to work an underpaying job for a bit at first, it just being there on your CV counts more than the extra cash. no more than a year or so, though. as for salary: 1 get in a union if you arent, and 2. im horrible at negotiating salary, but when they ask what you expect, it works pretty well to have looked up the relevant union stats and just quote that + a good some extra (because they will haggle you down)

I am on just under £30k, I don't think it is too bad money for my qualifications and experience and also the job role and area. I think I'm getting a promo soon but I don't know how big a pay bump it will be. I am motivated to learn but I don't know how to get into six figgy territory in the UK IT sec industry without going into management or something so I guess I will just keep learning and working hard

I pay myself 240k out of the 600k my company brings in. Hopefully me and my partners can sell it in a year or two for 1.2, 1.5 and that's not a terrible return on a few years of work. I only have 10% but hey that's why I'm taking a salary. This is embarrassing but you know being transparent about wages is important
