I think that I'm probably not very tribalistic, and I'm not sure if this correlates with a higher IQ or with maybe just a general higher openness to experience, or what the deal is there. Maybe its simply because I don't have any tribe to belong to, besides internet nerds.

My experiences living in a very low-income area in a big city, where I literally am a minority, have made me more aware of the fact that there are people in this world who would do me harm than I was before. My thoughts on 'the common solidarity of mankind' have eroded, and shaped into something new, with a keen eye toward my self-defense and continued existence. Basically, there probably exists a sort of scale, going from 'more tribal <-> less tribal', and people of any group can be at any point on this scale. I'd say the neo-nazi's who live out in east county San Diego are on the 'more tribal' side of that scale than myself, and even though I am white, they probably would beat me up just as quickly as the bloods or el norte or whichever non-white street gang.

I'll just keep telling personal anecdotes though, because I'm dumb and gay.

My neighbor asked that I be the best man at his wedding, he is half African-American and half Navajo, so he's basically got the double whammy of "people who were hosed over by my ancestors". His fiancee is Iranian, and she says I'm the only white person she ever met who knows anything about Mohammed, the fertile crescent, and other important historical features of the Levant and surrounding areas. I also mentioned the Sykes-Picot agreement, and how I felt that essentially Britain and France should've just stayed out of the middle east. I've come to find that people really enjoy if you know things about their culture and their history, and unfortunately it seems, if you're going to learn about history, you're going to learn about racism to a huge extent. Not to mention, every cool historical fact I just mentioned, is extremely intro-level and not at all hard to find out about. It seems extremely sad to me that even basic stuff like that can make me appear so erudite to everyday people. My outlook on this is simply that not everybody can be expected to care about what amounts to useless information, and I need to keep in mind that I'm a nerd, so of course its endlessly fascinating to me. I don't like it when smart people use their knowledge to brow-beat their lessers. In fact, I don't feel as though my neighbor or his fiancee are my lessers, I just genuinely enjoy their company. We drink beer, and they let me ramble on endlessly about stupid old things. Not to mention when I leave, they thank me for my company. These people are not white. I've quipped before that I probably would've been gassed in Nazi Germany for not being volkisch enough, which my neighbor was very surprised at, and asked me to explain why to him. He previously had been unaware that "white people" aren't just a thing, so I tried my best (and probably failed horribly) to explain that there are different groups of white people; like Anglo-Saxons, Nordics, the French used to be called Gauls and they basically kicked everyone's rear end militarily for a long time thanks to conscription armies, and as far as I can tell "Aryan" is just a made-up term and the Thule society is loving crazy. Though, even the Romans wrote about the 'berserker rage of the Teutons'. Did you know that most people you talk to in average everyday life just assume Germany has been around forever? They don't even know who Bismarck is! I am completely fine with this, I don't like using my "knowledge as a cudgel", and I get really excited and nerdy when I get the chance to try and explain useless stuff to people. Its really more for my benefit than theirs, I figure if I can do a decent job of explaining something, I probably understand it better myself.

In some ways I agree but I don't see how having a discussion is bad for me, since I get to learn more stuff; - it might be bad for everyone else going "ugh look at this guy!" but that's on them really, and that's how I feel. I do know the difference between those things, I was being facetious. The joke is that I'm way out to the right beyond retard sisterfucker cove and... well, you get the idea. I'm probably not that right wing. Who knows. When I read "The End of History and the Last Man" by Fukuyama, I get a little twinge in my eyeball, and a bit of a headache, because Fukuyama never seems to mention the massive amounts of death involved in overthrowing regimes to install Liberal Democracies -- whereas that's kind of Moldbug's whole shtick.

As to actual influence, well, an earlier poster had already mentioned how its scary that Peter Thiel seems to be listening to them. Silicon Valley in general seems like the perfect breeding ground for this entire thing, and the valley is much more powerful in the real world than any tumblr girl. Though, this seems obviously over-attributing their influence.
