The threat was absolutely one of the dirty foreign invaders coming in and messing with our women and all, but I don't think anyone originally mistook it as Jews so much as just those filthy near east men with their swarthy foreign ways.

I guess it's relative. I don't think the United States would be ready for the amount of socialistic tendencies we have here in Sweden, for instance. But I'm sure he's totally super socialist by American standards.
