Hero Quest actually seems like a very nice more casual way to do DnD. Maybe not for pulling off insane crazy things, but it turned out better than most of my sessions. I'd get it myself if it didn't apparently cost an arm and a leg. Also. I can't believe how many times snake eyes got rolled that session.

Yeah, HeroQuest is a game I've actually played quite a few times with my siblings, it isn't really any more complex than most other casual tabletop games.
It's also got a bunch of miniatures, which makes it a bit more appealing. ( Which is also one of the reasons it costs a decent chunk of change nowadays.. )

And, even though HeroQuest is pretty hard to grab ahold of nowadays, there are a couple clones/game genre games, like the Dungeons and Dragons game:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hasbro-GAMD...agons+adventure

I'm kind of intrigued by it, because it uses a lot of mechanics from HQ, but also adds levels to the player characters, and a whole bunch of equipment. It seems way easier to get your hands on nowadays, atleast.
There's even a couple uploads for it on the Workshop, so it might be interesting to show off, if the uploads aren't too bad.

I'm still a bit saddened that none of the HQ uploads have the miniatures for the game though, they're pretty rad:
( Although these are painted. )

Wizards have actually released a series of dungeon crawler board games that are pretty fun: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/172220/dungeons-dragons-temple-elemental-evil-board-game

They have a modular dungeon board and the monsters have their own simple AI so you don't need a DM.

Or if you like to have a DM then Descent 2nd Edition is also highly regarded.

Dungeon Saga: Dwarf King's Quest just released this year and looks as though it may scratch your Hero Quest itch as well.

Hm, y'know, Descent is actually up on the Workshop, so that would be fun to swing sometime, I think.

Apart from that, I kept on hosting + recording HeroQuest sessions quite a bit before I even started uploading them here in the thread, with the intent of them being a side feature, of sorts.

Still not retired or anything like that. I just figured I'd show off some more of Tabletop Simulator's features to you.

I set up everything in advance, using hidden rooms this time. They're a pretty neat and useful feature of TTS that I don't think we've really showed off in any of the other games.
That also means that the session is quite a bit quicker paced, since that means there's really no delay going from opening a room, to getting killed by it's occupants.

There's a module up for Mice and Mystics as well. It's a pretty cute dungeon crawler where everyone has been turned into mice.

So apparently around this time TTS had some sort of update and my mouse cursor is being recorded oddly. It's completey offset in the video where it was in the game...I have no idea what's up with it, to be honest! Aside from that, this was a pretty good session.

Part 3

We're finally back! As mentioned, I've had a rough few weeks, so Ax has been filling in for me. For the time being we should hopefully get 2 updates a week: 1 HeroQuest and 1 something else; with maybe a few breaks every now and again where we go down to 1 video a week. Thanks for watching, and we'll be recording a new game soon!

This episode: In which, people die...

I'm really enjoying Betrayal. I've seen it in the local shop a few times and though about picking it up, but don't think I'd get much opportunity to play it. It seems like there's a lot of situations of not knowing what the game rules are. Generally from things not seeming to be stated very well.

There are a lot of rules mistakes that I can spot in the videos, most play groups will have them the first couple of times you play unless you have a person who goes out of their way to make sure they've learned all the rules ahead of time and is willing to make everyone pause when there's a rules confusion so they can look it up.

Though, the game is honestly a ton of fun. I love how it just never plays out exactly the same.

Yeah, at some point I want to go through and make a list of all the rules we got wrong; either way, we're definitely going to play another session of that game at some point.

So! I'm still cranking out all the details, but something I'd really like to do is, host tournaments for some CCGs! And since, Pokemon TCG is a game everyone knows, I figure we'd start there!

So how it works is, the first tournament will just be Base Set. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's old as poo poo, but, I like the nostalgia in it; I will probably host future tournaments where we add in a couple sets as a time, and slowly rotate sets out. To let people experience the full evolution of the game!

It's open to anyone! What do you need to take part? You'd need Tabletop Simulator, for one. You'd need to have some experience with recording audio, preferably. You'll need to record yourself in Audacity, and the game + only it's audio in whatever recording program you prefer (OBS, Fraps, etc.). This can easily be done with a free program called VoiceMeeter, and I intend to write up a guide on how to use it at some point, so don't worry if that's the only thing holding you back.

Knowing how to play the game isn't even a huge requirement! There are a number of places online to learn; a simple way would be "acquiring" the Pokemon TCG game on Game Boy Color and playing through it's tutorial.

I'll probably end up uploading a save to help with building decks, or just find a good workshop upload. But, for now, we're starting off with sign-ups!

So if you have TTS and any interest at all, feel free to post here!

So, dear thread.
Once I run out of HeroQuest content ( It'll be a little while ) I was thinking of doing a game or two of other games as a bit of an intermission.

I've narrowed it down to a couple games I'd be interested in hosting, and I'd like to hear what you guys would be interested in seeing first:

Colt Express: 2-6 Players - A full on train robbery! With players helping or hindering each other to try and end up as the richest outlaw. Family / Party Game.

Mice and Mystics : 1-4 Players - A band of people still loyal to the king have been transformed into mice, and they must do their best to cooperate and rise to the challenge. DungeonCrawl/Adventure.

Descent : 2-5 Players - A bit alike HeroQuest, a modern Dungeoncrawler/Adventure with an Overlord. Quite praised on BGG. ( Ranked #43 across all board game types. )

Mistfall : 1-4 Players - A brand spanking new game, Kickstarted earlier this year. Although it might not be in wide availability yet, it's been recently released as Official DLC for Tabletop Simulator.
I'm quite intrigued by it. It's a cooperative dungeoncrawl/adventure with randomized encounters.
( It might apparently be quite complicated, complex and difficult. So I guess, :getin: )

e: And for anyone wondering, this is just about what I'll be uploading. T is doing something else, so it won't be the only thing posted.

Party games are more fun to watch for me. Colt Express.

On that note, I'd like to suggest The Resistance (or its variant, Avalon). It's another competitive and investigative type game where you are assigned different roles, like Battlestar Galactica, which was mentioned upthread.

We've talked about Avalon (I'm not familiar with The Resistance, but I imagine it's similar based on what you said?) and the main concern is we'd have to have one player be a GM to privately reveal to the bad guy team who they are; since honor ruling the main component of the game is a bit iffier.

If you want something with a dungeon crawler theme but a completely different play style, there is already a module up for Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=575834749

It is thematically based on the old Warhammer Quest games but is actually a card-driven crisis management game. It has a campaign and a session typically takes about an hour on a real table top.

Warhammer Quest seems kind of interesting, it also helps that it's apparently a shortish game, too.

I can easily answer that; CCGs and TCGs are basically the same thing. Any card game that has a format built around collecting cards from booster packs. In fact, Pokemon is probably the only game to ever use the "TCG" moniker, because they wanted to encourage trading since that was... a tenant of the Pokemon game design.

I'm not super familiar with either Star Trek games (and didn't click those links yet), but I think at least one of them was made by Decipher, who also made the Star Wars CCG I played when I was younger.

So, definitely options, but seeing as I'm not much of a Star Trek fan, not high up on the list!
