Fortunately it will just be my corpse entombed in my bed, because my head will be crushed by slamming steel plates when I sit up during the earthquake. Alternatively, my body may be chopped in half. Also, if I'm reinforcing my bedroom floor to handle the weight of my 2000-lb bed, might as well just make the whole bedroom out of steel to begin with...

I idly wondered why they don't just design the buildings to not collapse. Then I remembered: China.

I'm wondering exactly how it's triggered. Does it just use vibration or shock sensors to activate? If so, could someone figure out where they are and gently caress with them to drop someone into their bed tomb while they sleep as a prank?

The moving parts seem to introduce a lot of unnecessary danger and chance of failure. Couldn't you get most of the safety features just by making a strong steel bed with a reinforced canopy? Okay, I'm not engineer, but something like this, where the red is the welded steel frame and the beige box represents the cosmetic cladding around the bed and the matress and stuff. Arches are strong, right? So a steel arched frame overhead could help protect you from crushing. Maybe put an arch in the bottom too, not sure where I was going with that. You could even drape a traditional cloth canopy over the steel frame on top to make it look pretty. Then you just have a pretty normal looking 4 poster canopy bed that won't chop your arms off in an emergency. It might not help either, but at least it didn't kill your cat.

It's not just that it could go anywhere, without the gasses being compressed and only allowed to expand by propelling the shell, which is what the barrel does, they're just gonna be wasted everywhere and barely propel the thing anywhere. The design was at least vaguely non-stupid till the swingarms too, once the swingarm showed up it was just totally silly.

Accuracy probably wouldn't matter much with a high rate of fire toward a bunch of targets. The bullets having no thrust could be a problem though. A rover that scuttles under tanks to explode them would be pretty cool though. Anti-tank dogs never worked that well, but a disposable exploding robot could be interesting.

I love how the shots of the planes blowing up just keep coming and coming, explosion after explosion. It's such an obvious power wankfest, I love it. Plus of course there is only 1 airfield on the planet that the stealth bomber is fielded from, it's in rural missouri, and they don't take kindly to strangers and certainly not foreign ones assembling giant menacing looking contraptions on their land. Of course once you've moved 5 semis worth of equipment and like 7 dudes minimum, why not just set up a couple of field artillery pieces? Computer-controlled of course. Russians love artillery, why not use that?

Why do you think everyone is sleeping alone in the middle of a double/queen size bed? Though personally I'd be more worried about sleeping in the models that have mattresses 5 feet above the floor. Roll out of bed by mistake or get up in the middle of the night to take a leak without remembering where you are - better hope you don't land on your head. I'd be more worried about breaking my neck than being buried alive. I do love the Chinese knock off version that has a sleeping couple suddenly swung into each other though. Waking up to a shaking room with your SO about to smash into your face while you have this sudden falling sensation and a klaxon is blaring in the background? Good luck springing into action like that.
