There is a way to do both if you really want. Start off 'Get Junior' solo by going to either the casino or the fight club on your own, then go and see Varese and activate his help for the next two, or even just the last objective. This being CDPR, there is of course special dialogue for doing it this way and you have no failed quests taunting you in your quest log.

I have the one where you kill Radovid in my failed log even though not only I did I reloaded it to do it again. It got marked as failed sailing with everyone to the final confrontation but I got the ending as if I did it so /shrug.

I have both quests counted as complete too. Just talk to Cleaver, then find his dwarves at the casino and arena and pound some whoreson head. Looks like the Hideout is the lone one. At the arena the dwarves are off to the side; I missed them in my first play through but Cleaver will only get slightly upset and you just won't get as much coin from him for completing the quest.Supreme Allah posted:Did you put back on all your armor and equipment before the fight, because it's not immediately obvious that you can and some folks did that fight with naked Geralt. The mage is also easy to handle just by chugging a Chort Decoction. If he can't push you back while you go to town with heavy attacks and aard/igni, he folds very quickly since he just keeps desperately dumping out his very low damage knockback.

I'm not missing out on anything by ignoring monster nests am I? 15 hours in and the game still hasn't given me the mats for any bomb but the flashbang, and no merchant sells the parts either.

The flashbang destroys monster nests. You're missing out on some xps and random monster loot.

Chort never seems to do anything for me. Last time I tried it was against the first HoS boss and I was getting staggered and knocked back exactly the same, I dont even know what it looks like when it works. Maybe he ignores it. By the way that leads to one issue about the HoS bosses, most of them seem to be able to ignore stuff that should work great against them. The frog prince has an attack that ignores Quen, the mage is immune to dimetrium bombs (he'll literally teleport out of a cloud of anti-magic particles), the Caretaker dispels Yrden. Just when you think you have the perfect thing for that type of boss they completely ignore it. Good loot in those nests after they're destroyed, and I think you need to destroy them so folks come back to abandoned sites, which gives XP.

Ugh, I'll go back and see if I can't flashbang any then. Also gently caress Forefather's Eve and gently caress whatever attack the drowned ghouls have that disables signs. I died in four hits of it at level 8. Round two oiled up took them out but I didn't know that was a thing! Also lol Geralt pulled the wrong sword out for the witch hunters. e: Finally found a dude who sells everything I need. Problem solved! Wow ice bombs make things a lot easier. I have the same experience with Chort, it never seems to do anything. Specifically for the mage I tried almost literally everything, nope. (Didn't try Axii, but then again I forget it even exists.) Any bestiary entry that says to use Dimeritium or Moon Dust or you come up against a new mob where it seems like they should work almost always seems to be a lie.

Finally started the DLC, got past the first main story mission. So, do you think Gaunter O'Dimm woke up one morning and decided, "I'm going to spend every day of my life being the most suspicious bastard in the world," or does it just come naturally

Both sounds right. DLC that Olgierd fight while the house burns was hard as gently caress. Having to do the fight a second time because it crashed on the cutscene immediately after the fight sucked though. Wish I knew why the game suddenly likes to crash during cutscenes randomly but it doesn't happen often enough at least.

I don't know if it started due to new nvidia drivers, the Windows 10 upgrade without a clean install, the new ram that I can't check with memtest because it won't detect my usb stick or something else. Running the dx installer and vcredist stuff again helped for a couple days but that may have been a placebo.

I just beat the main quest after who knows how many hours (80? 100?). I can't think of a more enjoyable experience. Luckily, I still have the first DLC, NG+, and tons of sidequests still to do. That said, the ending I received was abrupt and depressing as hell for Geralt. Ciri dies and I didn't romance Triss or Yen. The world is in a okay spot, Tameria is "free" and Skellige is peaceful, but I feel personally empty . Most games can't achieve that level of emotion.

The gog galaxy overlay is bugged and will crash your game, especially when talking to npcs. Once I turned it off, my game became stable as a table. It also made my game run a bit smoother.

Avalanche posted:Opinions on a NG0 build to go with on Death March difficulty? I think everything/anything is still viable on NG+ Death March, just keep in mind you're not getting any new ability slots but will rack up a ton more points. This opens up a lot of hybrid builds where you can take several abilities from deep in different trees that you wouldn't be able to reach with the ~60 points from a normal playthrough. Sword damage scales the best, bombs and sign damage not so much. I would recommend a hybrid build getting +Toxicity and some of the Oils abilities in Alchemy, your pick of strong/Rend or light/Whirl lines in swords tree, then your favorite couple alternate signs. I think you definitely want the Alch ability that gives +toxicity for recipes known, that allows you to chug all the drugs and have multiple decoctions on at all times which is huge. The oils abilities that poison on hit and let you take reduced damage from enemies are great since they're scaling on max HP and incoming damage, respectively. Signs isn't worth going beyond the first two tiers imo, grab your favorite alternate sign modes for utility. I wore Wolven armor (medium) paired with the Griffin School generic skill that gives you monster stamina regen, though any of the sets will work fine. I just like having endless stamina to pair with Ekhidna decoction for rapid sign and special attack use that heals me. Edit: again, the big thing is you're limited to 12 ability slots unless you grab a mod. That means you need to be really picky and grab the skills that give you maximum utility and bang for their buck. Pellisworth fucked around with this message at 16:15 on Dec 22, 2015 |

The three together could be something ridiculously OP.

Before I pull the trigger, I'd like to know whether (given my impressions of TW2) whether I'd enjoy the game: - combat overall was meh, I specifically hated the beast fight at the end of act 1 ("use the Yrden!!!") and the forced sequence at the end of act 2 - didn't really enjoy having to look up what potions to use prior to a fight to make sure I didn't get wrecked - Roche path was best path - I want to help more trolls with detox
