I'm slightly against calling damage up as completely useless. OK, so it's not exactly making your regular gun any more effective as any other. However, there are two classes of weapons that benefit from it: Chargers and bombs. You can do some effective snap shooting with chargers, and splat bombs are more effective either in combination or not. Some e-liter users use both to great effect - which is why they're so reviled.

Anything that makes Chargers more effective is a bad thing in my book.

Is Comeback any good? I assume it works similar to Last Ditch and Opening Gambit, but I've never really noticed them doing anything.

Its a shame, I like the look of the beret and the paintball helmet. Also the Octoling jacket, which has Haunt. :ghost:

Really, the gear would be so much more satisfying if you had a slot for aesthetics so you could use the stats from a good item but still look the way you want.

It's not terrible, but there's better things you could have on a hat. Ink Saver (of any sort) would be preferable as it's active all the time and not just immediately after you respawn.

Doesn't it shorten the spinup time on splatling guns too? I'm usually on an inkbrush so they're prrrrretty useless to me, but it is unfair to say they're entirely useless alright.

i've been using the rainbow sneakers with Stealth Jump mainly to negate the horrible feeling of seeing myself get annihilated when i land. combined with good squid beacon use you're generally able to plow pretty far into enemy territory without too much trouble.

as far as hats go, i think i've been using the Tenacity gas mask perk way too long. having your special bar slowly ratchet up is fantastic. generally for subtraits i like quick respawn and swim speed boosts.

the ability to re-roll equipment's primary perk would be a nice one for future splatoon gamez, assuming nintendo decide to make another of these. they really ought to.

I did an informal test of that theory when the hydra came out, and I don't think so. That said, by "informal test" I mean "went to the test range, timed it in my head" so I could be wrong. As far as the usefulness of that ability, I swear I'm more effective with blasters when I'm wearing that black shirt with damage up as a main.

Basically, it really needs to be put into the OP that stats are a nice bonus to certain types of gear and certain loadouts may be beneficial to certain playstyles, but you should feel free to wear what you like.

If they really want to keep people grinding, give us the option to allocate primary and subskills onto certain gear after conditions are met.

Seeker is my new favorite way to screw with those dynamo rollers. As a huge bubbler fan, I think the echolocator is a better special for the tri slosher weapon. It's nice to have a echo weapon I actually like to use. 6x special charge up + Tenacity is fun; and this special really teaches you to keep an eye on the squidling chart at the top of the screen. It's pointless to use it when either your team is dead, or the enemy team is mostly dead.

BTW: Add me if you want, Logoth. I'll add everyone in this thread.

This is one of the few games I wouldn't mind supporting in some way through paid DLC. We don't get very man creative shooters these days and I've been really wanting something like this game since Valve dumped rear end all over TF2.

No map packs, but maybe some weapon skins or something.

I would straight up give them money for playable Octolings right now. I'd also happily purchase Callie/Marie/Octoling amiibos. Make it the next 3-pack, Nintendo, and you would make all of the money in the entire world.

Yeah, same. Especially if they gave me a reason to head back to Single Player mode.

Hell, Nintendo, just let me complete singleplayer mode with any of the weapons I own. That would do it right quick.

Yeah, they were saying (In the last treehouse, I think) that they had enough DLC to last until January. I'm a little bummed that they meant "no more free DLC" and not "couple of months' hiatus while we come up with new stuff" but eh. I figure that the amount of content we've gotten so far dwarfs a lot of what's available for other multiplayer shooters. They've certainly earned my $60. Hopefully, if they do go for paid DLC, Nintendo will be smart enough to keep it to cosmetic poo poo and not stuff that'll fracture the community like map packs.

As much as I want Splatoon to continue for another half-year, Nintendo probably simply wants that team to up and ready to work on another game for the NX. After the whole Wii U's fairly light release schedule they probably intend to get every team going so when the NX comes out there's a solid and continuous line-up of games.

Direct from the developer's mouths:

Nogami: The updates to game's weapons will come to an end in January, but we will be continuing the Splatfest feature in the game after that.

Amano: After this update in January, we will of course continue to support bug fixes and balance changes to the game where we feel they are necessary.

quote:

How long do you plan to release additional content for the game? Will content eventually go from free to paid after a certain period of support?

Nogami: As we mentioned earlier, the free content for the game will continue to release until January 2016 and we don't have plans to release paid DLC after that.

I'm a bit disappointed, but considering it's a great new Nintendo IP, I hope Nintendo is able to take more risks with new teams, and I hope the same team that made Splatoon can go onto the next new big thing.

It's sad, but thinking back I bought the game with 5 maps, not that many weapons, and turf war only(for a few days until Splat Zones released). To probably end it off we're gonna have 16 maps, a ton of weapons, and 4 gamemodes(along with way more gear, private battles, and squad battles).
