He said the name was somewhat familiar, but he couldn't picture him. Why are you friends with this person?

I try to keep the OP of the NJPW thread updated with that sort of stuff and feel free to ask any newbie questions there too. I'd strongly encourage everyone with any interest in NJPW at all to check it out. It's the biggest show of the year and a month of NJPW World is only about US$8.30. There's now even an English language signup page to make it easier to join. The one thing I would caution everyone though is that unlike western steaming services it works on calendar months rather than 30 day periods, so wait until January 1st to sign up. Baron Corbyn posted:Has there been a single Wrestle Kingdom without Tanahashi in the main event? And could they really not come up with a better main event than a repeat of last year and three years ago? not in the BushiRoad era. Last WrestleKingdom without Tana was IV in 2010 headlined by Nakamura vs. Takayama. Since then you've had Tanahashi vs.Kojima at V, Tanahashi vs. Suzuki at VI, Tanahashi vs. Nakamura at 8, and Tanahashi vs. Okada at 7, 9, and10. Karl Anderson actually has an even longer WK related streak going. He's been in every single Dome Show Heavyweight Tag Championship match this decade with three different teams (Bad Intentions with Bernard in IV-VI, Sword and Guns with Goto at 7, and his current partner Doc Gallows for 8, 9, and 10. And I personally think Okada should've gone over at 9 as the torch passing moment makes more sense with the younger ascendent star winning the title from the veteran ace rather than defending but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Thauros fucked around with this message at 21:13 on Dec 24, 2015 |

I'm not intimately familiar with New Japan, but I watch the AXS show and also watched last year's WK with the GFW feed, and I agree. It felt like the crowd also really wanted the big moment, and it came off a little like how people complain about Cena's booking when the show ended with Tanahashi air-guitaring after a kinda-heelish promo.

Bloody hell, until reading this I had completely forgotten that Gallows has already been in NJPW for over 2 years now, And since he joined NJPW, he and KA have held the tag titles for almost 500 days combined. That really speaks volumes about NJPW's tag division.

Meltzer was talking about that when the Tokyo Sports awards came out -- New JApan's heavyweight tag division is pretty bare. Atsushi Onita and Chigusa Nagayo won Tag Team of the Year despite not working any major shows and being really old, and he kind of felt the Killer Elite Squad was the only team that deserved it

There's a great extra on one of the Mania DVDs where Motörhead and HHH are sat backstage and they perform an acoustic version of his theme. It's really awkward because the drummer has nothing to do, it goes on for ages and Hunter just nod along the whole time. It also shows up just how little there is to that song musically. About as good as when any fucker produces an acoustic guitar backstage at a wrestling show really.

The story goes that when "The Game" was written, HHH asked who he would like to play it. He said someone who sounded like Motorhead. They asked why don't they just get Motorhead, but HHH just laughed that off, believing that there was no way they could ever get Motorhead to do his theme. It also led to an interview in a metal magazine with Lemmy and HHH where HHH was asked if he sang Motorhead songs while in the shower, and HHH replied "I try not to think of Lemmy while I'm in the shower."
