Can't find anything online about it. It's now a long past legend. :(

It was a little (like 30k) standalone app that only opens an animated gif like, black and white ultra low res topless exotic dancer with a 4s loop.

GOD THAT WAS FUNNY.

I can't find any references, but I distinctly remember there being stories going around CompuServe about him getting banned a couple of times before sorting it out. I mostly used CompuServe to get Doom wads, and given the Reznor-Doom connection, that's probably where I heard it.

Wait, so is this ironic or something, I am confused. I started reading the Loser Upstairs thing and so far it sounds like the guy upstairs watches movies, eats pizza, talks to people on the phone, and has friends over. Meanwhile the guy downstairs seems to spend every second in his apartment chronicling what the "loser" upstairs is doing. I've only read like the first ten things though, so maybe it gets worse?

The author is projecting his immense butthurt and jealousy onto the (normal) guy upstairs. It's no accident that his other - and much better - blog is called the life of a 41 year old virgin.

I remember pirating games for the Commodore 64, and being pretty SOL sometimes with no manuals or any way to figure out basic things in a game. We have some 2.5D flying game where you started off in a closed hangar, and could not figure out how to the get the doors to open. A friend of my brother's said "put something heavy on 6" and this actually worked, even though it was awkward finding something that would hold the key down while not pushing all the keys around it.

We eventually figured out you had to hit F6 to open the hangar doors.

When I upgraded from a 386SX/20 to a 386DX/40, suddenly my flight sims started running at the proper speed and my reactions weren't fast enough!

I don't know exactly what this is but it sounds pretty bad, my condolences. I never used OS/2 back in the day, it sounded way better than Windows, except for the fact that everything was designed for Windows (or still for DOS). Lucky for me I spent all my time learning everything about Windows rather than something that died, I guess.

At the McDonald's I worked at in college, I remember my manager telling me that his friend worked for Hewlett Packard and that he told him that there would never be a CD drive that would run any faster than 4x because any faster and the CD would melt.

I also remember playing the first Leisure Suit Larry on an amber monochrome monitor, and having all the answers memorized for the questions it would ask you in the beginning to verify that you were 18.

I made an autoexec.bat with a choice of five or six different variations of memory profiles (DOS=HIGH or EMM386) so I could play different games. Then along came QEMM386 and solved most of my problems.

That and interrupt conflicts are two things I do not miss.

he's a knight who is about to kill the dragon (nicknamed daisy) and loot the returning hammer (+4 combat and you can used it up close or as a ranged weapon) from the crypt behind the dragon's lair

When I was a kid I played this game with my uncle and the dragon was always camped so one morning he called and woke me up at 5am to log in and kill her

my mom came and said, "honey, your uncle Sky is on the phone he said to wake up so you can get on the computer to get a 'returning hammer'"
