Games that you feel deserve being played by more people, or maybe they had some degree of success, but just aren't as fondly remembered as youd like/hope.

I'll start with Waveform.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_xXz46-oAE

A game where you control the amplitude and frequence of a sine wave. The game starts simple enough collecting spheres and orbs, then you have to trace paths, and after a little while it introduces all kinds of cool gimmicks that affect the wave's path like mirrors, black holes, tunnels, clouds that either slow you down or speed you up. It's a really well realized little game that I feel a lot more ppl should be aware of if they're looking for a half puzzle half reflexes game

way of the samurai series. I always liked the combat in these games and the first one was one of my favorite ps2 games. 3 was good as well but 2 and 4 were just kinda meh

Probably the Valkyrie Profile series, since I've never heard anybody ever talk or mention it until recently and it's a really cool game series and full of like 6 or 7 different unique mechanics

Secret of Evermore is often skipped out on in legendary RPG lists. It's not its fault it was competing with loving behemoths Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI. Also, Zombies Ate My Neighbours is a goddamn gem for couch co-op.

I really like half minute hero, it's a good take on jrpgs, and there's all sorts of good hidden poo poo that you have to be clever/quick in order to find.

i didn't like how the hidden chapter was unlocked but i liked alternate paths and objectives and stuff, and uses of items in missions you don't normally get them in like the bug swatter

The Specialists mod for Half Life. A real loving shame that while TF, CS and even natural selection got big that one didn't.

I wish it would get an e-shop re-release for this exact reason.

another code: two memories [trace memory in the us]. The devs also released hotel dusk and that's slightly better known but another code was a really solid adventure game with fun puzzles and a good story. It had probably the cleverest puzzle in any game I've ever played, that I accidentally completely missed the first time I played [solved by trial and error without understanding]

There are also a small handful of dead multiplayer games on Steam that come to mind.

Einhander and Omega Boost (thanks arf for the Omega boost rec) these games are classic shoot em ups but made really well. One is by Squaresoft and the other is by the guys who made Gran Turismo. I love them both

omg how could i forget Omega Boost.
A sort of on rails shooter where you pilot a robot and bust poo poo up all over the place to some of the most satisfying homing shot sound effect and insanely great music. Please if you must play one of the games I talked about in this thread, make it this one. Emulation for it works flawlessly too.

that is a good game and it's a drat shame atari refuses to release the source code or really do anything with it beyond collect steam/gog royalties

devolver digital looked into buying the rights and doing right by it, but atari wanted like half a million dollars for a nearly 20 year old fps whose sequel utterly cratered

shame...

anyways, i'm gonna nominate jamestown for this thread. it's a bullet hell-y shmup but with a weird "british colonial mars" theme. it's pretty drat fun. the ps4 version has extra stuff, but i haven't played that one.

huh, that's a shame. there are some parts of blood that aren't great (hitscan enemies), but overall it's a great game with great atmosphere.
