Rushes and challenges are the same for each tier each week for everyone, but harder tiers have shorter time limits for rushes. Treks are easier for people to get credit with and actually give you loot now but are not enough to make up for the incredible amount of bugs and terrible decisions they introduced. The little chests at the end of rushes and puzzles are gone, the minimap for instanced missions was a blank which made the maze in Proxemics a pain, porting people stuck behind in puzzles is now impossible and people often don't get rewarded for missions until two, five, ten or infinity minutes after they finish. Last guild mission was the first time there were no bugs, at least for SFD. It's not great.

There were awkward waiting periods if a guild was partway through a guild puzzle by the time your guild arrived. Some guild challenges are incredibly easy to goof with a different group of people not following directions, so the arrival of another guild during a challenge tended to be bad. Instancing those had benefits, but the transition has been incredibly buggy.

It's me, I confess, I'm the bad who always forget to enter the banner whenever we do a challenge.

On the plus side though, now you can teleport to most guild missions via the guild hall.

It's pretty much luck, if you've got a trio of competent commanders who can herd cats in lane well and people who organize boss killing crews before the bossfight starts then you can get it done.

Honestly, given that you like leading wvw, try leading a goon crew through DS! DS seems kinda like a pve version of wvw to me, though I haven't played a ton of wvw.

Honestly? That'd probably get me to log on for more then 30 seconds.

Yeah I'd love to get a team of like thirty goons on to rock some DS. Split into three teams of ten to shepherd each lane and provide competent Might stacking for each lane and it should go really fast. At the trio of bosses section you could split each team in half and have five people to shepherd the ring zerg and five to handle the boss with the help of five pubbies.

We could also go for some T4 Verdant Brink and Tangled Depths. Meta Mondays!

If anyone else is interested, let's gather at 5pm PST on Monday and group up for some metas. Even if we don't have enough people to run the maps ourselves, it's fun to be on voice with people doing events with you

That time is impossible to make for regular work hour people on the west coast. Can you make it 7pm Pacific or later?

I hate you, Milkman Dan
I've owned this game for like 2 or 3 years and never really got into it. Then I rolled a Mesmer a week ago and holy poo poo. This is really fun! I can't stop playing it for hours on end. Up to 30 now, just running around and doing all the things. This game is a weird fever-dream mashup of OCD and ADHD. I have to do all the things, but there's always something popping up to steal my attention.

Any sage wisdom for a total noob? I *just* realized that I can store my mats straight from my bags without visiting a crafting station or bank... Which is what I did every few hours for the first 28 levels :D

Any other wonderful QOL things I should know but don't because the game doesn't tell you?

Meta Mondays - 7pm PST

Get on and we'll vote for what map we want to focus on trying to T4 (or, for Dragon's Stand, speedrun as quickly as possible)

Meatoberfest is in full swing.
Keep in mind that HoT maps are on their own timers, and (if I did the math right) 7pm Pacific is:

- Half an hour into VB day phase (of 75 minutes)
- Octovine event starting
- 10 minutes into an hour and 30 minute wait for the Chak Gerent event to start
- 30 minutes until active Dragon's Stand maps are forcibly closed

Figured I might try and do a legendary journey to make the Predator (I like the pew pew sounds). So after running around doing jumping puzzles, chain events, and being carried through fractals by goons I completed the first collection and unlocked the recipe to make the pre-precursor.

Which requires (but is not limited to) 30 Deldrimor steel, 30 Spiritwood planks, and 10 Elonian leather. :sigh: I can't even check the wiki to see if there is further crafting in the 3rd collection because, I assume, nobody has been stupid enough to spend over 700g worth of time-gated mats when they could just put a 400g buy order on the precursor in its entirety.

On the bright side, having never done them before, fractals with goons is now my new favourite thing.

Yeah, I made the Predator last weekend because I discovered the the precursor was only 500g on the TP.

getting together to run DS events is actually a pretty good idea. it's a fun event that doesn't take forever if people are at least vaguely intelligent. also the loot is pretty alright, especially if a couple people know where all the pods spawn after the boss is dead and want to act as guides.

Ra Ra Rasputin
Apr 2, 2011
The pods are easy, just follow the red arrows into the areas that were previously blocked off, it's also the only zone that is incredibly easy to 100% map complete in a single run.
Also 3 treasure mushrooms you wanna get after mordremoth for that .0001% chance of 1500g boots.

Can you actually get map completion without Ley-Line Gliding (and without relying on someone who has it)?

No, there's a hero point you can't reach without it. But finding a mesmer with key line shouldn't be too hard at this point.

If you're talking about the one by The Falls in AB, you can cheese that with experimental rifle too. I got 100% map completion and I'm probably 2 years from leyline :negative:

Nah it's one of the hero point bosses in DS that requires ley-line gliding to get to, though a mesmer can then portal people up.

Yeah that looks like your math is right. We can do VB day then go for T4 night, then get a late start on a DS run, VB night ends about half an hour into DS, so if we get a move on we should be able to clear DS in time. Worst case that looks like it's going badly and we bail for a run at TD

Make sure you bring XP boosters, as most/all of the mobs give XP.

Also try to have at least 25 or 50 of each currency beforehand if you want to get as many pods as possible. You get Machetes from advancing the meta but you'll run out if you want to get every single pod, and pods appear pretty consistently in the lanes now.

If you want to do world completion without a mesmer or masteries, you can always use the Teleport to Friend item on someone who's at the HP/whatever you need. Even map completion is P2W now. :smug:
