I see that Michael Moore has opined that Trump is absolutely going to win the Republican nomination, and I agree. The field of Republican candidates is uninspiring, to say the least; I think their singular message of "balancing the budget," corporate/rich tax cuts, and eliminating the Affordable Care Act have grown wearisome to an electorate that is more concerned with income, jobs, and a paranoid obsession with terrorism (thanks, mainstream media!).

Donald Trump has successfully coupled the sum of all citizen fears with a full-throated attack on Establishment (professional) politicians. Republican voters are particularly sensitive to these stimuli, having been schooled in Retard Radio propaganda that is essentially an orgy of outrage. In the past, Retard Radio has delivered the goods to the GOP--but since the Democrats have migrated to become essentially identical to the GOP, a different approach to outrage was needed. Retard Radio hosts like Hannity, Levin, and the stale Limbaugh now attack "establishment" Republicans as well whenever they succeed in any negotiation.

This actually started when GOP money mongers created the Tea Party as a way to energize GOP voters. In the end, though, they didn't fully grasp the paranoia, fear, outrage, racism, xenophobia, and anger that was unleashed in this marginalized group of outcasts. Now their minions have turned against them, and the former clown act known as Donald Trump is collecting the fruits of Tea Party fishing trips.

Donald Trump will win the GOP primary. He will probably beat Hillary Clinton in the general election because even Democrats don't care much for Clinton. If Bernie Sanders were to be Trump's opponent, I believe Bernie would win; Senator Sanders actually represents the views of young and working Americans far, far better than Ms. Clinton, but the Democratic Party will not allow Sanders to be nominated--and neither will the mainstream media.

Personally, I'm fine with a Trump presidency. It will certainly result in a political crisis in America, and I think it's time we all recognized that we have been ill-served by this conservative constitutional government that supports a 2-party system based upon an oligarchy and retail elections.

Love,
Vitalis

Maybe I was just projecting and conversing too much with like-minded people, Paranoid Randroid. I should rephrase this--"I personally don't like or trust Hillary Clinton, and I would not vote for her unless she was running against someone that behaved like Adolf Hitler and was, in fact, Adolf Hitler."

Interesting, but I do need to note that this poll was from about 6 weeks ago. I have no reason to believe that has changed any, but I should also note that Hillary Clinton has a number of vulnerabilities and liabilities that could sink her ship in the coming months; Trump will certainly use all of those against her, whereas Trump's supporters cannot be deterred from supporting him.

are they really middle of the pack? starting here and pulling the 'rcp average':
bush: -25.8%
trump: -23.3%
santorum: -21.0%
paul: -18.6%
christie: -15.4%
huckabee: -14.6%
o'malley: -11.5%
fiorina: -10.0%
cruz: -8.5%
clinton: -8.5%
kasich: -8.3%
carson: -5.0% (he was routinely hitting double digit +s in september/october, including a +32% from quinnipiac - things turned hard in november)
rubio: -4.0%
sanders: -1.0%

it looks to me like trump's favorables are statistically indistinguishable from jeb's favorables

e: added a few

ee: big difference of course is that jeb's negatives come from republicans and trump's negatives come from non-republicans. so if you want to figure out how trump's message is going to go in the general election if he gets there, thinking about how jeb's message went in the gop primary would be a good place to start

Things that Donald Trump has publically spoken in favour of:

Single-payer Healthcare
decriminalized/legalized recreational drugs
Avoiding foreign entanglements
Tariffs on foreign goods to protect American industry
Keynesian public works spending
A one-off wealth tax

What did I miss for when I'm out there convincing liberals to vote for trump next year?

I'm not sure 1/6 (single payer -> legalizing interstate insurance sales) is "most". Last I was aware, aside from the drugs thing which I couldn't tell you his policy on, the other stuff is all still what he stands by.

The promise of Mexican ethnic cleansing is fairly problematic. You should never like a candidate because you think you know what he REALLY intends, and that he conforms to whatever fantasy you have in your head. Trump has no consistent or principled policy positions other than Trump and dog whistle politics against minority groups.

hes abandoned single payer, "bomb the hell out of isis" is not avoiding foreign entanglements, his tax plan which massively guts revenue pretty much eliminates the possibility of large public works, and he has abandoned the one time wealth tax

i dont know his policies on drugs, and he still supports protectionism afaik, and the foreign entanglement stuff is debatable i guess, which is why i said most.

He wants legal medical marijuana on a federal level, continue to let states decide and will commission an immediate study on legalization.

Also Bernie and Trump are the only 2 candidates not owned by oligarchs, so.
