I actually had the extreme misfortune of stumbling upon the article they're reading, after reading some discussion about the new film, and people started bringing wacky extended universe stuff. If you're not aware who RedLetterMedia is, they're a group of grimy film nerds who play up the fact that they're grimy film nerds. He has more to offer on the Redletter Media off shoot channel Pre Rec where they play and review video games. The Twitch videos are them playing games and blathering, the Previously Recorded videos are the edited reviews.

I also find that they tend to belabour the point when it comes to their humour. And since it got mentioned earlier, I honestly can't stand the Mr Plinkett character. I did sit through the Phantom Menace review a while ago, and I found that "humour" to actually be rather intrusive on an otherwise very well-constructed critique. I know humour is entirely subjective and all, but it just does nothing for me, and at times just borders on tedium. That said, I really did enjoy their pieces on the Resident Evil movies and I like their Best of the Worst series.

The worst part is there's the germ of a really good thematic underpinning to the persona-- present the absolute worst kind of Star Wars fan imaginable and have them present cogent criticism to preemptively defuse any ad-hominem "you're just a butthurt nerd" arguments.

Plinkett is just an excuse to tell the occasional super dark joke out of nowhere I think. I like dark jokes so I'm ok with it. I like their other stuff better overall though, like I think Rich-Plinkett on HITB is funnier overall than Mike-Plinkett. Haven't seen all the reviews but I feel confident enough in saying that.
